A new TV series has been hailed the next 'Game of Thrones' after the debut season finale was dubbed an 'insane' bloodbath.

Dune: Prophecy, which stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Mark Strong, Tabu and Travis Fimmel, is a prequel to Denis Villeneuve's movies.

The series has now premiered in the UK after it was released earlier this year in the US on HBO Max, Sky Atlantic and Now.

The show takes place 10,000 before 'the ascension of Paul Atreides' and follows the 'two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit'.

But as the series aired its final episode in the US, viewers were left truly impressed and shocked by the outcome of the series.

While not everyone survived, the likes of Emperor Javicco Corrino's death shocked fans; however, the show has been secured for a second series.
