Australian rock legends AC/DC are officially heading back Down Under - marking their first national tour in nearly a decade.

The iconic Aussie band will blast their way through stadiums across the country this November and December as part of their global Power Up Tour, named after their chart-topping 2020 album.

It marks the group's first Australian shows since 2015, sending fans into meltdown as tour dates were unveiled on Monday morning.

Fronted by Brian Johnson and guitar icon Angus Young, AC/DC will hit major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane.

Fans can start snapping up seats from June 26, with staggered release times via Ticketek and Ticketmaster.

The Aussie band will blast their way through stadiums across the country this November and December as part of their global Power Up Tour, named after their chart-topping 2020 album.

Joining the band on all dates will be the raucous Aussie punk outfit Amyl and the Sniffers, who are set to supercharge the crowd before the main act hits the stage.

AC/DC will kick off their Australian leg at Melbourne's iconic MCG on November 12, before heading to Sydney's Accor Stadium on November 21.

From there, the legendary rockers will take the stage at the BP Adelaide 500 Grand Finale on November 30, before travelling west to Perth's Optus Stadium for a show on December 4.

They'll wrap up the Aussie tour in style with a final stadium blowout at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on December 14.

The Power Up Tour has already caused chaos overseas - with over two million tickets sold across Europe and North America, including ten sold-out shows in the US alone.

'AC/DC puts their fans ahead of everything else,' said Australian tour promoter Christo Van Egmond, son of Garry Van Egmond, who promoted AC/DC's Australian tours for 40 years.
'They're perfectionists in every way and will always make sure each fan walks out with a big smile on their face.'

Van Egmond notes Acadaca's legacy, citing the wide spectrum of ages at each show.

AC/DC were last rumoured to be announcing a world stadium tour, with Brian Johnson resuming his position on vocals, in 2020.

Broadcaster Eddie McGuire leaked the news on his Triple M Melbourne breakfast show at the time.

Brian's hearing problems forced him to leave the band mid-tour in 2016.

He was temporarily replaced by Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose, who served as vocalist for the band's remaining concerts.

Doctors had advised the frontman, 77, to either quit performing live or face the possibility of 'total hearing loss'.

'That was the darkest day of my professional life,' Brian said of the diagnosis at the time.

Eddie also claimed lead guitarist Angus Young would join the tour, as well as drummer Phil Rudd, who left the group in 2014 amid legal troubles.

AC/DC was formed in Sydney in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young.

Following the death of lead singer Bon Scott from acute alcoholic poisoning at the age of 33 in 1980, Brian was hired to replace him.

Rhythm guitarist Malcolm was diagnosed with dementia in 2014 and retired to a Sydney nursing home.

He died on November 18, 2017, at the age of 64.
