Aimee Lou Wood is set to play Jane Eyre in a new period drama - and it's worlds away from her roles in Sex Education and The White Lotus.
The actress, 32, who already has several high-profile roles under her belt, is now adding another with Charlotte Brontë's heroine.
Brontë's 1847 novel follows the emotional and moral growth of protagonist Jane, as she navigates love, social equality and independence in the 19th century.
According to Deadline, this new adaptation is being written by Miriam Battye and produced by Working Title.
Emmy nominee Aimee rose to prominence for playing Aimee Gibbs in Netflix's teen comedy Sex Education.
In the series, which also starred Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson and Ncuti Gatwa, her character befriends Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey).
Emmy nominee Aimee Lou Wood is set to play literary heroine Jane Eyre in a new adaptation of the classic novel.
Aimee recently stepped out at the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026, which were held at London's Royal Festival Hall.
She first rose to prominence for playing Aimee Gibbs in the hit Netflix comedy Sex Education from 2019 to 2023.
She portrayed this role throughout Sex Education's entire run on the streaming platform, spanning from 2019 until 2023.
And last year, Aimee took her career to further heights with a starring role in smash-hit HBO drama The White Lotus.
The anthology series took the latest action to Thailand, where she played bubbly resort guest Chelsea.
Chelsea was part of a storyline with her boyfriend Rick (Walton Goggins), with their arc intersecting with other characters later in the season.
The cast also included Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey and Patrick Schwarzenegger, to name a few.
Her other roles include the BBC comedy Daddy Issues, playing Gemma opposite David Morrissey as her on-screen father Malcolm.
It comes as Aimee previously revealed the major difference in how her White Lotus character Chelsea was originally intended.
A native of Manchester, her natural accent came through in the show, but that wasn't always the case.
Last year, she had a major role as Chelsea, a bubbly tourist, in season three of hit HBO anthology The White Lotus.
She revealed that series creator Mike White had initially envisioned the character as an American, and that she had never met her on-screen boyfriend Walton Goggins during the casting process since no chemistry tests were done.
'Well I think they've been looking for Chelsea for a while. And Mike’s very instinctive with his casting. He kind of just is all intuition. We don’t do chemistry tests. Like me and Walton had never met,' she revealed.
Aimee added that 'the ladies' - likely referring to Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Laurie (Carrie Coon), 'had never met' either before filming.
‘It’s all just he trusts that it’s going to work. And so they hadn’t found Chelsea yet. And I think everyone was doing the American accent,’ she said.
She added that: ‘talking about astrology as an American, it starts to feel quite L.A., and it was, like, scorpio. And then, they were like, do one American but do one in her own voice.’
Aimee continued: ‘And I think there was something about it made it slightly more off-center and maybe a bit more individual when it was in a Manchester accent.’
