All guests were safely restrained and the ride resumed operation after the issue was resolved.
Riders were forced to hang mid-air on a swinging ride at Six Flags Fiesta Texas after it unexpectedly stopped last week.
Footage of the incident at the San Antonio park, shared by Storyful on Wednesday, April 29, shows a rider's thrilling point of view as they were stuck 200 feet in the air on the Supergirl Sky Flight ride.
In the video, the camera pans around to show the steep drop below as fellow riders look over the edge of their seats while they wait.
Rider Maria Salazar tells the outlet it was "scary to have to wait up in the air, unable to move," as they waited for updates.
"When my husband, our friends, and I got in the ride it stopped in the air for about 10 to 15 minutes before they had to call maintenance to bring us down," she told Storyful.
The ride's abrupt stop was not due to a malfunction, a park spokesperson told PEOPLE. An operator was prompted to stop the ride after they saw a guest holding out their cellphone, which is "strictly against our safety policy."
"Last weekend, a ride operator stopped one of our rides when a guest violated our safety policy. Once the issue was resolved, the ride resumed. All guests safely exited, and the ride remained open for the remainder of the day,"
the spokesperson added.
The stop lasted about seven minutes, and guests were "safely restrained" the entire time, according to the spokesperson.
The Supergirl Sky Flight makes riders feel like the "Girl of Steel" as they're lifted 200 feet into the air, according to the park's website. The open-air seats give guests "jaw-dropping panoramic views of the park" as they spin around a themed tower.
"Flying 40 stories high with the wind in your hair, you will feel like you might actually be from Krypton yourself,"
the website adds. “The higher you get, the faster you spin, so by the time you reach the top, you will be soaring around the center base at 35 miles per hour.”
Riders at another Six Flags were in for a different unplanned thrill last week when the towering Superman: The Ride roller coaster seemingly malfunctioned at Six Flags New England.
Footage shared by Newsflare showed the aftermath of the coaster getting stuck just as a car filled with riders approached the highest point. Guests then got out of their seats with help from what appeared to be staff members in orange vests as they climbed down the edge of the tracks together on the towering structure.
