Aussies have shared their shock at the eyewatering price for a humble bacon and egg roll at two different cafes.

A customer took to Reddit to share two photos: one of a menu outside an unnamed cafe in Terrey Hills, on Sydney's northern beaches, and another of The Boathouse at Balmoral Beach, on the lower north shore.

The Terrey Hills cafe prepared the staple with Turkish bread, aioli and relish, while the Balmoral venue used traditional barbecue sauce instead of relish.

Both cafes listed the bacon and egg roll for $19.

'What is your absolute maximum, considering many places will do a breakfast special roll and coffee for $10-12?' the Sydneysider posted.

The question sparked hundreds of comments from Aussies who were divided over the price.

Many were outraged to see the hefty $19 price tag, questioning who would willingly pay that much money.

'Get f*ed,' one wrote.

Another added: 'Are people actually paying these prices? I can get a dozen eggs for $5.80 and a pack of bacon for $5.'

'I reckon $10 max. Anything above that would need to be an elite level roll,' a third wrote.

Others were unfazed by the price, with one claiming a cafe in inner-city Newtown sold them for $22 while another venue in Woollahra has them for $21.

The inclusion of rocket and aioli also sparked controversy.

'Rocket completely ruins a B+E roll but somehow also adds $10 to the price despite being like 20c worth of plant matter,' one wrote.
Another added: 'Aside from a dash of sauce, anything you add to the perfect combination of bacon and egg can only make it worse.'

Others were more outraged by other menu items.

'$24 for a ham and cheese toastie!' one commented.

A bacon and egg roll at The Boat house Balmoral Beach will also set you back $19

Another added: '$3.50 extra for crisps!'

For those looking for a more affordable option, The Boat House at Balmoral has $15 eggs and toast while at Terrey Hills, a breakfast jar of muesli, fruit and yoghurt will set you back $14.

Daily Mail contacted The Boathouse Group for comment.

It comes after Lane Cove National Park Cafe on Sydney's lower north shore was recently called out for charging $17.50 for a bacon and egg roll.

An outraged customer accused the cafe of being the 'world record' holder for the priciest bacon and egg roll, a price which since been eclipsed.

'Can anyone find a place that beats this price for a bacon and egg roll?' they wrote alongside the post.

Other expensive menu items included a $27 garden salad, a $16.50 ham and cheese croissant, and hot chips, with a $12 small serving or $20 for a large order.
