An Australian influencer has been slammed after sharing a 'random act of kindness' video on social media.
Sam Guggenheimer took to TikTok this week to reveal she had recently been inspired to give something back.
'I was speaking to one of my best friends the other day... and she was going: "We just need to practice more gratitude, and be more grateful for the things in my life, and do random acts of kindness,"' Sam, 22, said in the clip.
'So, I'm mentally taking that on and I'm going to do a random act of kindness today for someone I'm very grateful for.'
Sam then singled out her local hair salon for special mention as well as her hairdresser of four years, who Sam said was 'everything.'
'And that is Salon Mace and my hairdresser Felicity,' Sam said.

'[She] is not only my favourite hairdresser I've ever had, but she’s also like a second mother, she’s my therapist, she is everything,' Sam continued.
'She’s been doing my hair since 2021, and she’s seen me in all faces of life.'
'I’m so grateful for her and just the whole team at Salon Mace in general. I love them so much I could rave about them forever.'
After the glowing endorsement, Sam then revealed her random act of kindness -- a large box of cookies for all staff.
'The girls deserve a sweet treat after the crazy month of November with all the races and the long days -- this is the least I can do for them,' she said.
Sam then made her way to the salon, cookies in hand, and all staff seemed genuinely chuffed with her magnanimous gesture.
The clip continued, showing Sam receiving quite the glow-up as she sat in her hairdresser's chair.
The sweet clip was met with some derision online, with some critics claiming Sam’s kindness was misplaced.
‘She made a TikTok about wanting to do a random act of kindness, so I was intrigued,’ one person wrote on Reddit.
‘Her idea of a random act of kindness was taking cookies to her scheduled hair appointment and making sure to film the moment. Don’t go to too much trouble, Sam.’
Commenting on Sam’s TikTok, another follower said her act was ‘disappointing’.
‘Long time fan of yours but disappointing to see that out of all the ways to be kind and grateful towards the community you choose your hairdresser instead of paying it forward for Australians who are doing it tough,’ they wrote.
‘Looking forward to seeing how else you use your platform to practice gratitude and random acts of kindness to the wider community!’
Not everyone agreed, however, with one follower taking umbrage with the previous comment.
‘How do you know her hairdresser isn’t doing it tough? Do you know what’s going on in her hairdresser’s life?’ they replied.
‘What have you done to be kind and to whom? Because you’ve definitely done at least one unkind thing today right here.’
Another chimed in with a supportive: 'I feel like I just witnessed something magical.'
The sweet gesture was not lost on the salon staff either, with its page commenting: 'You are the sweetest!!! Love you.'
