The BBC has unveiled a first look at its upcoming adaptation of The Secret Life Of Adrian Mole - with a rising teen star confirmed in the lead role.
The nine-part series is based upon Sue Townsend's novels, which were published between 1982 and 2009.
Furthermore, Oliver Savell, 16, has been confirmed to star in the iconic lead role of Adrian.
Viewers will recognise the young actor from ITV's Changing Ends, where he plays a young Alan Carr - in a BAFTA-nominated performance.
Joining Oliver in the cast are Rivals star Lisa McGrillis and After Life's Colin Hoult as Adrian's parents Pauline and George.
Pam Ferris - who portrayed villain Ms Trunchbull in Matilda - plays Grandma, with New Tricks' Alun Armstrong as Bert and Secret Service's Galaxie Clear as Pandora.
Rounding out the cast are Jude Forsey as Nigel, Rory Keenan as Mr Lucas, David Wilmot as Mr Scruton and Karl Collins as Mr Cherry.
A synopsis reads: 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ marks the return of an iconic British character to our screens.
'It's New Year's Day 1981 and Adrian starts his uniquely funny diary about family life and being a teenager before the advent of mobile phones and social media.
'With only a multi-coloured ballpoint pen as his guide, Adrian worries about his spots, his parents' divorce, the torment of first love and the fact he's never seen a female nipple.
'This vivid portrait of suburban life in Britain shows how much we have changed while staying the same.
'The result is a timeless family drama that is as warm and funny as it is sad and poignant.'
David Nicholls is adapting Adrian Mole for this adaptation, alongside Caitlin Moran, Caroline Moran, Jack Rooke, Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor.
Adrian Mole creator Sue Townsend died in April 2014, at the age of 68, following a stroke.
Elsewhere, the BBC has renewed Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash's fly-on-the-wall TV series for a third season.
EastEnders star Joe, 44, and Sort Your Life Out host Stacey, 36, have cashed in on their family brand and have already filmed two seasons of their reality TV show, Stacey And Joe.
And now the Beeb has given season three the green light and will continue to follow the couple's blended family as they go about their day-to-day lives.
It followed their lives at Pickle Cottage with their children; Rex, six, Rose, four, and Belle, three. Stacey is also mum to Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 13, from previous relationships, while Joe has another son, Harry, who he had with an ex in 2007.
The second season, which featured six episodes, saw baby Belle’s first day of nursery, Zach’s 17th birthday and family skiing lessons.
The third series is believed to follow Joe’s efforts to build a fishing lake at their lavish countryside property.
The Daily Mail has contacted the BBC for a comment.
Stacey and Joe told the BBC: 'If you watched the first series, you'll know we've been talking about the lakes for ages... it feels a bit surreal to finally see it coming to life.
'With the juggle of family life thrown in, we're learning as we go, so we'll be just as surprised as everyone else to see how it all unfolds!
'A huge thank you to everyone who has watched Stacey & Joe so far. We're so grateful and can't wait for you to see this next series.'
