Words cut deep in Tyler Perry's "Beauty in Black."

In an exclusive clip of Season 2, Part 2 obtained by USA TODAY, Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) and Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield) challenge one another in an intense verbal exchange.

"The clip is just a small preview of what is to come in Part 2," Williams tells USA TODAY.

The scene comes amid Kimmie's rise in the Bellaire empire. She was once hopelessly under Jules' thumb in a violent sex trafficking ring working off debt at his strip club.

Now, she stands before her ex-pimp, serving as the head of the Chicago hair care company with the help of her now-husband, Horace (Ricco Ross).

Kimmie "has this confidence and power with Jules because of what's going on at the business side, not knowing that she's poking the bear that she has always had, but by these new circumstances," Williams said.

Still, Kimmie is reveling in her newfound status, the actress continued, "I think she's enjoying this role reversal with Jules at this moment because of the years of abuse that she's endured from him."

Kimmie, Jules have a complicated past

Throughout the series, viewers learn that Jules is full of secrets. On the surface, he's the Bellaire family's go-to guy in times of crisis.

But Jules is also behind forcing Kimmie, and her friends Rain (Amber Reign), and Angel (Xavier Smalls), into his trafficking operation after he covered up their crimes. Each episode, it gets harder for Jules to contain his dark side.

"My blessing is how I've been able to approach this character because Tyler wrote it in such a multi-layered way. Sometimes I'm the voice; sometimes I'm the voice that's never heard," Whitfield says regarding Jules' actions in the show.
"Sometimes I'm a little part of the vengeance that you wish you could be. I believe sometimes he's soul searching; sometimes he's soul snatching," Whitfield says.

While on set, as Whitfield explains, he's completely "immersed" in Jules. But then he goes through a detox to brush off his villainous character.

"It's a great playground to really engulf myself in," he added. "But then when you carry so much weight, I also have to physically and personally say, 'Okay, we leave him there.'"

Jules is 'going to put all the pieces together' in Part 2, Williams says

In the penultimate episode of Season 2, Part 1, Rain adds more conflict to the mix when she impulsively pushes a ranch worker, who was intimate with Kimmie's little sister Sylvie (Bailey Tippen), off a balcony on the Bellaire compound.

He is revealed to be Jules' son.

"The viewers know what happened, but Jules does not," Williams said. "He wonders what happened to my child at this home, and he's going to put all the pieces together."

The Part 2 trailer teases gun blazing action, new players, and more epic reads. Whitfield describes it in one way, "It's going to take your breath away."

"Beauty in Black" Season 2, Part 2 premieres on Netflix on March 19.
