A billionaire's yacht was renamed after the media mogul didn't realize that the ship's title, spelled backwards, was a vulgar antisemitic phrase.

Larry Ellison, once the world's richest person and the co-founder of the media and entertainment conglomerate, Oracle, renamed his German-built yacht the Izanami, which, spelt backwards, reads, 'I'm a nazi'.

The 81-year-old chose to name the enormous, 191-foot vessel after a Shinto deity in Japanese mythology, the goddess of creation and death, seemingly without realizing the phrase it spelled in reverse.

Ellison, whose family has strong ties to Israel, became aware of the vile phrase and renamed the yacht, according to Futurism.

The yacht owner has repeatedly shown his support for Israel, notably at a gala for Friends of Israel Defense Forces in 2017, when the billionaire broke the donation record with an astonishing $16.6million contribution, according to Variety.

The embarrassing name incident was mocked online, with many pointing out that it's a mishap that could be seen on television.

User wrote: 'That is such a classic billionaire blunder that it almost feels scripted by Jesse Armstrong himself. It is the perfect intersection of high-end pretension and a total lack of basic proofreading.'
Another added: 'This is straight out of Succession.' The comedy drama is about the Roy family, who own a global media conglomerate called Waystar Royco.

A third said: 'This sounds like something out of Arrested Development.' Another hit show about a dysfunctional wealthy family.

Ellison briefly became the world's richest person after his wealth jumped by $101 billion to $393 billion in September.

Oracle's largest individual shareholder co-founded the company in 1977 after dropping out of college.

He is also known for his private life: Ellison has been married six times.

His current wife, Jolin Zhu, also known as Keren Zhu, is 33 and has been involved in Ellison's business ventures, including college football investments.

The billionaire also has a relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, who was spotted vacationing with his family in 2021 on an island in Hawaii owned by Ellison, according to The Times of Israel.

At the time, Netanyahu was on trial for fraud and breach of trust in three separate cases, as well as bribery in one of them, while Ellison was a witness in two of them.

Ellison allegedly convinced Israeli mogul Arnon Milchan to drop his attorney Boaz Ben Tzur so Netanyahu could hire him, according to the Haaretz Daily.

On November 30, the prime minister asked Israel's president Isaac Herzog for a pardon over his cases.
