Britney Spears returned to Instagram on Sunday with one of her most bizarre posts to date following a series of bombshell claims from her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The 43-year-old former pop star shared a photo of herself riding a horse that was taken from behind, but she paired the image with a rambling, unhinged comment that referenced the Disney film Maleficent (2014) and claimed that she had suffered 'brain damage.'

The Daily Mail has contacted Spears' representative to request comment but hasn't yet heard back.

Spears' post comes in the wake of Federline's latest shocking claim in his memoir You Thought You Knew -- to be released on Tuesday, October 21 -- that his ex-wife allegedly 'punched' their son Preston, 20, 'in the face' when he was a child.

Federline, 47, shared other claims from Preston and his brother Jayden, 19, including disturbing allegations that on more than one occasion the boys woke in the night to see their mother standing in the bedroom doorway while clutching a knife.

A representative for Spears has denied the claims in response to the Daily Mail's request for comment.

In her latest post, Spears was pictured from behind while riding a horse through a desert landscape.

The rider behind her snapped the photo, revealing that most of her back was exposed aside from what appeared to be a bra strap.

Spears appeared to be wearing a pair of tiny white shorts but was otherwise exposed aside from a dark wide-brimmed hat.

'My back... my blades... my wings... remember the movie Maleficent such an incredible movie!!!!' Spears began, referencing the Disney film about the Sleeping Beauty villain, which starred Angelina Jolie in the title role.

'Remember the king tried to kill her but instead a guy secretly took her wings but anything from the father in heaven the real father whom is the one I only claim who loves unconditionally nothing is EVER FORGOTTEN...' Spears digressed. 'Her wings were holy so the king couldn't take them not one person could say they were restored and hidden locked in a secret holy stain glass church...not that this has any relevance with me but I do find it incredibly interesting...'

She went on to describe a 'traumatic experience' that she had apparently written about in her memoir The Woman In Me, which was published in October 2023.

'As some of you know at the end of my book where for 4 months I no longer had my private door and illegally was forced to not use my feet or body to go anywhere... for a person like me who understands the sacredness is god speed... it did more than hurt my body...' she said, apparently referencing a period in which she was institutionalized during her since-ended conservatorship.

'Trust me there's ALOT I didn't share in my book and still things at this very moment I've kept hidden because its incredibly painful and sad...' Spears continued. 'I do feel the logic and mindfulness in my body as ONE was 100 percent murdered and destroyed I couldn't dance or move for 5 months...

'anyways I know my post and dancing seemed silly but it made me remember how to fly...' she continued, referencing her numerous dancing videos on Instagram. 'I used to swim with my babies on my back till they were 4 and 5 I was incredibly strong...

Then she appeared to resume speaking about Maleficent without warning.

'At the end of the movie she goes to a church and somehow find her wings 🪽 protector of the moors considered a villian but actually one with mother nature [sic]... animals would bow to her... she was brilliant in that movie...' Spears said.

'I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent... I have of course moved on from that troubling time in my life and I'm blessed to be alive...

'I'm showing my back one make up artist said dont you think its too big [sic]...' Spears continued confusingly. 'people are incredibly cruel...

'still to this day I haven't flown like I use to do you think if I go to the Vatican I might find something quite interesting there??????' she said in another turnabout, possible returning to her earlier reference to God and her faith.

'Its fun to tell stories at this point because this all might sound so silly but with what garbage literally is being said about me I said why not bring SUBSTANCE to the table,' Spears concluded, possibly referring to the claims made by Federline and her sons in his new memoir.

Spears' references to 'brain damage' may have also referred to a 2019 episode in which she was institutionalized against her will.

In 2022, she claimed that the episode left her with permanent nerve damage.

She continued: ‘nerve damage is caused sometimes when you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain … your brain literally shuts down … blah blah blah old story … in that place I didn’t breathe when I was there … nerve damage causes parts of your body to go numb.’

Spears alleged that she wakes up ‘like three times a week in bed with my hands are completely numb’ and feelings of ‘pins and needles’ on the right side of her body.

‘It shoots up to my neck and the part that hurts the worst is my temple on my head ... it stings and it's scary,’ she explained, adding how ‘the last 3 years since I got out of that place I’ve been in a mild unconscious state ... I couldn’t face it.’

The former dancer previously detailed several episodes in which he alleges Spears behaved erratically around their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

New excerpts from You Thought You Knew include Federline claiming that Preston told him Spears ‘punched him in the face,’ according to Variety.

He also claimed Spears bleached their sons’ hair down to the scalp, causing burns; forced Preston to bathe with her when he was ten or 11; knowingly gave Jayden shellfish despite his allergy; and at one point wished both children ‘dead.’

Federline and Spears were married from 2004 to 2007 and share two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19;

A representative for Spears has denied all claims after being contacted by the Daily Mail.

Previous claims made by Federline included that the singer reportedly watched her children sleep while standing outside their room in a doorway with a ‘knife in her hand’ and used cocaine during the time period she was breastfeeding.

Spears denied both allegations on X, accusing Federline of ‘gaslighting’ her, and fired back at the drug allegation, writing, ‘I 100 percent beg to differ.’

Spears's representatives told the Daily Mail that Federline and others are 'profiting off her,' noting that child support arrangements with Federline had already concluded.

'With news from Kevin's book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,' the spokesman said. 'All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.'

The Daily Mail has not received a response to its request for comment from representatives for Federline.

Federline writes in the book that Preston received a call from Spears while on a European vacation, during which she allegedly blamed Federline for 'everything.'

After Preston confronted her, Federline recalls, 'Her response was chilling: she told him she wished he, his brother, and me were all dead.'

Federline recounts several episodes in which he alleges Spears behaved erratically around their sons, including reportedly watching them sleep while standing outside their room in a doorway with a 'knife in her hand.'

Meanwhile, in Spears's heated X message, she accused Federline of harboring hatred toward her.

'Why is HE SO ANGRY,' she wrote, adding, 'The boy hates me and it is deep anger to literally say the things he is saying.'

The Toxic singer continued, 'If you really love someone then you don't help them by humiliating them,' and described Federline’s behavior as 'way worse than anyone could imagine.'

In a separate post, she called the 'constant gaslighting from [her] ex-husband... extremely hurtful and exhausting.'

Spears also said she has felt 'demoralized' about the fractured relationship with her boys, writing: 'I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys.'

The singer wrote: 'Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.'

'Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by own [sic] father for me,' Spears went on.

'They need to take responsibility for themselves,' she added.

Federline also alleges that Preston told him Spears punched him in the face

Federline also asserts that Spears knowingly gave Jayden shellfish despite his allergy;

'With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.'

Spears continued, adding that she is the one who 'gets hurt' from the 'white lies' in Federline's tell-all book.

'Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here.'

The Baby One More Time singer concluded her statement with expressing love for her two boys.

'I will always love them and if you really know me, you won't pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.'

'I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.'

A source close to Spears also indicated she does not intend to publicly respond to the memoir to maintain a semblance of normalcy for her children.

Federline recounts in the memoir that although he has not spoken to Spears in years, he feels 'an increasing urgency that I can't ignore' and fears that her behavior is 'racing toward something irreversible.'

He writes, 'The signs are all there: the erratic behavior, the isolation, the cycling of people around her, the refusal to accept help. It's become impossible to pretend everything's okay.'

He adds, 'From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we're getting close to the eleventh hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don't change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding pieces.'

'They love their mom. They've seen the red flags. But they don't know how to help without being attacked, misunderstood, or blamed.'
