According to a company announcement, Spring & Mulberry is voluntarily recalling its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar (2.1 oz) due to the potential presence of the bacterial infection, which can cause symptoms like diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps.

The recall, announced on January 12, 2026, affects lot #025255 and was posted as a public service by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

There have been no reports of illness linked to the recalled product as of the recall date, according to the company announcement.

Those in vulnerable groups, such as people with weakened immune systems, frail and elderly people, pregnant women, or children, are most at risk if they consume the product.

In severe cases, infection may result in more critical complications, such as arterial infections or endocarditis. The recall's significance lies in preventing such outcomes before any illness is reported.

Spring & Mulberry said: "Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
"In rare cases, infection can result in the organism entering the bloodstream and causing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis. Individuals experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention immediately."

The affected Spring & Mulberry Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar can be identified by its teal packaging, flavor name "Mint Leaf," and lot code #025255 -- printed on both the back of the box and inner flow wrap.

It was distributed nationwide through online channels and select retail partners since September 15, 2025.

Spring & Mulberry is "proactively recalling the specific lot in which this risk applies to protect public health. The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by a third-party laboratory."

Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to dispose of it immediately.

To request a refund, customers should contact Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com and provide a photograph of the lot code from the packaging.

Customer support is available for assistance and additional questions via the same email address.
