A comedy series has finally been made available to watch as viewers dubbed the show 'damn funny and thought-provoking'.

Minx, which first aired in 2022, is set in the 1970s and followed Joyce Prigger (Ophelia Lovibond), a feminist from Los Angeles.

She takes a considerable risk and pairs up with adult entertainment publisher Doug Renetti, who New Girl's Jake Johnson portrays.

But after struggling to secure funding for her dream publication, The Matriarchy Awakens, Joyce reluctantly accepts a business offer from porn publisher Doug.

While Joyce wants to fill the pages of their magazine, Minx, with hard-hitting essays, Doug also says they must push the boundaries.

He wants to include details like a nude male centrefold to get customers rushing to snap up copies of the publication.

After the first series viewers were seemingly hooked, as the show, which is now free to stream on ITVX, boasted full-frontal nudity with the intent to try to open Joyce's mindset.

And the reviews were glowing as the first season bagged a whopping 98 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

'Minx may be targeting its audience's funny bones far more than their neither regions, but it still knows how to satisfy,' Rolling Stone wrote in its review.
'For all the bodies on display, Minx is, happily, turned on by the life of the mind,' Variety declared.
'Minx manages to capture the spirit of the swinging '70s while examining themes that endure decades later. And it's damn funny, to boot,' Decider added.

Meanwhile viewers called it 'hilarious', 'insightful' and 'thought provoking'.

The show was followed by a second season in 2023, which also gained approval from fans.

Alas, despite fans being supportive of the second series, the series was axed twice.

During the filming of season 2, HBO Max backed out and Starz quickly swooped in and continued filming the show.

But after just six months following the second season in January 2024 the series was once again cancelled.

The show has aired three seasons since its debut in 2022 and a fourth is set to stream this month and will be available in the UK on Now TV for the first time.

The series follows Elodie Yung as Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon working and residing in Las Vegas.

Trapped in the country as an undocumented immigrant after her visa expired, Thony takes up work as a cleaner.

She aimed to save money for her little boy Luca's life-changing surgery - he needs bone marrow treatment which is only available in Las Vegas.

But, when she witnesses a murder by gangster Arman Morales (Adan Canto), Thony begins living a double life as a cleaner and a doctor for the mob.

The cast also stars Oliver Hudson, Navid Negahban and Ivan Shaw as Thony's abusive ex-husband Marco De La Rosa, who abducts Luca at the end of the first season.

The synopsis for the show reads: 'The Cleaning Lady is an emotionally driven character drama about a smart immigrant doctor who comes to the US for medical treatment to save her ailing son.

'When the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down & marginalized.

'Instead, she becomes a cleaning lady for organized crime, using her cunning & intelligence to forge her own path in the criminal underworld.'

And the show has been a hit so far as it has scored a whopping 68 percent on its first ever season.

And fans dubbed the show an 'implausible romp' and they 'highly recommend' it.

One penned: 'This show keeps you reeled in from start to finish and never slows down. I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already!'

'Definitely love this series and I hope we get a season 2. Also loved the drama of this series as well and the real topics.'

'It is quite an implausible romp that is a lot of fun to watch and has you rooting for the Cleaning Lady to succeed.'
