A recently re-opened pub on NSW's Central Coast has been lambasted online over its $25 burger.

The Woodport Hotel in Erina, formerly known as the Sunken Monkey, reopened under its new name in January following a swish $10 million renovation. The venue has always been a popular spot on the coast for its live music and nightlife.

However, a couple of diners were recently left underwhelmed after visiting the rejuvenated modern pub and ordering the 'Woody Cheesy' burger.

Priced at $25, the Woody Cheesy comes with wagyu beef, Frankies pickles, American cheese, onion and special sauce - and all burgers include a serve of fries. There's also the option to add extras: chicken for $6, a beef patty for $6 or bacon for $4.

Sharing a picture of his recent Woody Cheesy order to an online discussion forum, one patron posted a short review of his experience.

'Here's my review of the $25 Woody Cheesy burger at the new Woodport Hotel in Erina,' the post began. 'If you like to wait 90 minutes for a cold burger that looks like it was prepared by a five year old then this place will exceed your wildest expectations.'

The accompanying photo showed the man's fingertip and thumb lifting the burger bun, revealing it to be underwhelming and decidedly small.

Woodport Hotel co-owner and licensee, Sean Wagstaff, confirmed to the Daily Mail that they 'are extremely disappointed to hear about this experience of one of our guests, as it's not to the standard we pride ourselves on delivering'.

'The Woodport Hotel has only recently opened and we've been very encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers in our first few weeks of trade,' he continued.
'As with any new venue, we're continuing to fine-tune our service as we settle in, and we remain committed to providing a great hospitality experience for Central Coast locals and visitors alike.
'Since learning of this customer's visit, we have reached out to apologise and invite them back into the venue, so that they can have a better experience.'

However, it seems this diner isn't the only one to be disappointed by the burger order.

Two Aussie blokes, who post a mix of food and pop culture videos to their YouTube channel, The Jibbies, also shared a video review taste testing the Woody Burger.

Their five-minute-and-thirty-second video review, posted on February 27, saw them visiting the renovated venue and each ordering the same burger - but both added extras. One chose an additional beef patty, the other added bacon.

'What do you think about the size?' one asks the other in the video. 'I think it's pretty small. I even got a double patty! So it would have been tiny without it.'

While one of the men felt 'overall, it was okay', the other remarked that he didn't think the burger was 'worth' the price.

The initial burger review and photo shared in a Reddit post erupted with replies - with many fixated on how 'tiny' the burger appeared in the photo.

'Either you're a giant with enormous hands or that is a mini slider, not a cheeseburger,' read one response.
'The thumb size to burger ratio is disturbing,' agreed another.
'If you wait another 90 minutes they'll finish making the remaining 2/3 of your burger,' joked a third person.

The man who originally shared the post conceded that he is quite tall, which may have exaggerated the burger's smaller size. But he added that his main complaints were with the price compared to the size, the long wait, and the final presentation when it eventually arrived.

One stunned reply read: 'That cannot be real'. To this, the man responded: 'It's real unfortunately.'

Other commenters agreed that all his criticisms were valid.

'Tell them you expected adult portions for adult prices,' read one reply.

One person sadly replied: 'Size aside - that's just a really depressing looking burger. I genuinely feel sorry for the cow that died for that.'

A recent patron replied to confirm they too had recently visited and ordered the same burger - only to be disappointed.

'We just tried Woodies for the first time since the reno... hubby ordered that same burger. The kids meals are bigger,' they observed.

Since reopening as the Woodport Hotel, online Google reviews for the venue's food offering swings wildly between glowing five-star ratings and unimpressed one-star reviews.

One recent five-star review enthused that the venue looked 'bright and new' - and that the 'pizza was very nice'.

Another happy customer scored a 5/5 rating for the food, service and atmosphere while one more said it was 'totally worth the trip' after travelling from Sydney.

One patron declared they'd enjoyed 'an absolute feast' with their family.

On the contrary, a one-star review within the past week complained about 'the poor quality of the food'.

Another single-star review claimed they waited over an hour and 20 minutes for their order - before demanding a refund.

A two-star review stated: 'Food & cocktails were disappointing. Portion was small and lacked flavour'.
