Along with the sequel offering a reunion between Lohan and Curtis after starring together in 2003's Freaky Friday, the Disney film will also feature a cameo from Lohan's The Parent Trap costar Elaine Hendrix.

Lohan and Hendrix butted heads onscreen for the 1998 comedy, in which Lohan played twin sisters Hallie Parker and Annie James and Hendrix gave a memorable performance as Meredith Blake, a 26-year-old publicist who wanted to marry their father Nick (Dennis Quaid).

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly about her role in Freakier Friday, Hendrix shared how she and Lohan initially didn't stay in touch after filming due to their age difference. Lohan was 11 while playing dual roles in the film, and Hendrix was 26.

"Loosely, between, we reunited during the pandemic to do a Parent Trap reunion with Katie Couric, so I saw her then. But that was online," Hendrix explained.

The actress said a text from Freakier Friday director Nisha Ganatra helped reconnect the former costars. "I was like, girl, you know I'll show up for you to do anything," Hendrix recalled.

In Freakier Friday, Hendrix plays Blake Kale, a stylist dressing a pop star mentored by Lohan's Anna Coleman, who works at a record label.

"I got to physically see her, and we spent a lot of time together on set, hanging out, reminiscing and catching up. Now we're better about staying in touch with one another," Hendrix said of filming.
"She lives on the other side of the world and has a family and is busy. We both have full lives, but particularly through social media and texting we're staying in touch, which is quite lovely. I'm so happy for her and where she is in her life. It's nice, in these new chapters of our lives, to be in contact," Hendrix said.

She added to EW, "There's a lot of people who live a lot of lives. Life lifes, you know what I mean? There are few people who live their life in such a public way that she was thrusted into. We go to see things we just don't normally see about people. To see her now after so much that she's gone through. She's just in a really great place. She looks great; she's so happy; and I'm happy and thrilled for her."

Freakier Friday sees Lohan and Curtis reprise their roles as mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess Coleman as they swap bodies with two others -- 22 years after their first time doing so.

"The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice," a synopsis for the project teases.

Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao are among the returning actors from 2003's original.
