On Thursday, Maria Shriver's publishing imprint The Open Field unveiled the cover of the late Eric Dane's autobiography My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments, which is scheduled to hit shelves November 3.

The Actor Award winner - who was cremated last Friday - was 'working on the manuscript right up to' his death, age 53, on February 19 from respiratory failure with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as an underlying cause.

The 70-year-old Emmy-winning journalist 'was honored' Dane trusted her with his book, writing: 'He told me he wanted his family to know how much he loved them, and he wanted to leave them a story they could be proud of.'

The San Francisco-born actor originally inked the book deal on December 8 and no doubt had assistance in rushing his literary debut.

'I wake up every morning, and I'm immediately reminded that this is real -- this illness, this challenge -- and that's exactly why I'm writing this book,' Dane said in a statement.
'I want to capture the moments that shaped me -- the beautiful days, the hard ones, the ones I never took for granted -- so that if nothing else, people who read it will remember what it means to live with heart. If sharing this helps someone find meaning in their own days, then my story is worth telling.'

On Thursday, Maria Shriver's publishing imprint The Open Field unveiled the cover of the late Eric Dane's autobiography My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments, which is scheduled to hit shelves November 3.

Available for $32 presale, the Countdown star's memoir is 'told through a series of "days" that each illuminate a defining experience or emotional truth' as well as the '"future days" that would come after he was gone.'

My Book of Days promises to take readers into the mind of a man 'looking at life through the lens of a terminal illness' and 'leaves behind not just a record of his life, but a lasting guide to cherishing time itself.'

Proceeds will likely benefit Dane's two daughters - Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14 - from his 14-year marriage to wife Rebecca Gayheart, which ended in 2018 before she called off their legal separation in 2025.

The GoFundMe page set up by 'family friends' to 'provide stability now and in the future' for his children is still actively receiving donations, with the total on Thursday reaching $477,685 from a $500,000 goal.

The 54-year-old widow is listed as the beneficiary.

'Billie and Georgia, these words are for you,' Dane said in Netflix's new documentary Famous Last Words secretly taped last November.
'I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall we had a blast, didn't we? I remember all the times we spent at the beach, the two of you, me and mom -- in Santa Monica, Hawaii, Mexico. I see you now playing in the ocean for hours, my water babies.
'Those days, pun intended, were heaven. I want to tell you four things I've learned from this disease, and I hope you don't just listen to me. I hope you'll hear me.'

The Kabul actor went on to instruct his children to cherish every moment, fall in love or find your passion, choose your friends wisely and fight until your last breath.
