Fifteen Los Alamos Residents File Candidacy For Office - Los Alamos Daily Post

Fifteen residents filed their candidacy for elective office Tuesday in Council Chambers at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building.

State Representative for Dist. 43 is Democratic incumbent Christine Chandler. She was one of the early morning filers and is running unopposed for her third term.

Three judges filed on Tuesday, including two incumbents and one who filled a vacancy, so is running for election for the first time. All three judges are Democrats and running unopposed.

Magistrate Judge Catherine E. Taylor filed for reelection. Municipal Judge Elizabeth K. Allen filed for reelection. Probate Judge Perry C. Clare, who was appointed to fill the vacancy created when Michael Redondo became County Clerk, is seeking election for the first time.

Eight candidates filed for four available seats on the Los Alamos County Council, including six Democrats and two Republicans. Democrats include incumbents Theresa Cull and Melanee Hand. The remaining six candidates include Republican Jason Alan Chappel, Democrats Joseph F. Granville, David E. Hampton, Steven S. Lynne, and Marshall P. Maez, and Republican Eric Roland Stromberg.

Two Democrats filed for Los Alamos County Sheriff, including David Izraelevitz and Antonio Maggiore. Both are former Los Alamos County Councilors.

Jeff Casalina, a Democrat, is the only candidate to file for Los Alamos County Assessor. Current County Assessor George Chandler is completing his first term in December and is not seeking a second term.

Early Voting for the 2026 Primary Election is May 5-15 at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.

Early Voting continues May 16-30 at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building and at the White Rock Town Hall at 139 Longview Drive.

The 2026 Primary Election is Tuesday, June 2. The General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
