A fish and chip shop owner has been slammed for leaving a trail of foul-mouthed responses to customers who dare to give his takeaway shop negative reviews.

Gold Coast chippie Caught 'n' Cooked Fish and Chips describes itself as a 'beloved restaurant located in the heart of Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia'.

But shop owner Sunny Chandra has been called out for hurling insults in response to one-star reviews complaining about food quality and service.

Mr Chandra defended his actions and told Daily Mail Australia he believed the reviews were being left behind by fake customers and that he had had enough of it.

One reviewer said they were 'ultra disappointed' and claimed they were overcharged after ordering two cod chips and a beer meal with five potato fritters.

'Got charged $44 for what was lucky if it's $10 worth of food. Locals to the area, will not be back, don't shop here,' they wrote.

Mr Chandra hit back by labelling the reviewer a 'f*wit' and a 'dumb nut'.

'Cod Chips n Beer is $16.99" and each Potato cake is $2,' he wrote.

'You ordered for 2 meals n 5 Potat cakes, go back to school you bloody imbecile, my 4 yr old can do better maths.
'Please go elsewhere and see what you pay mf. Even two beers are worth more than $10 you dumb nut.'

Another review claimed the food was 'below par' and the 'order was taken by what appeared (to be) a nine-year-old boy who operated the till'.

'And the man (father?) doing the cooking was quite disorganised,' it read.

'A lady called out to him that she had been waiting for an hour so she wanted a refund.

'His reply was angry, rude and unacceptable. After a long wait the food was well below an reasonable standard. This is the worst food place I have experienced.'

Mr Chandra replied the reviewer was the 'most disgusting person writing a comment'.

'Yes it was a father and nine-year-old son working in his birthday because other staff are like you who want to stay home at the last minute and give no regard to their employers,' he wrote.

Another customer who claimed they had waited 45 minutes for a piece of fish was told: 'Why don't for one day you stay home and cook and eat with your family and don't have to line up for a fish.'

Mr Chandra said he shared the blunt responses because he was at the end of his tether after receiving a string of 'fake reviews'.

He said he was able to tell from order records whether or not a reviewer had actually dined in his shop - and the sham reviews were bad for business.

'We report those comments and nothing is happening. What option do I have, just sit there and look at it? I've come to a point where I'm just fed up,' Mr Chandra said.
'I'm not trying to be nasty or anything but I've been there for 12 years and I know my customers.'

Mr Chandra added he was 'not bulletproof' and did get annoyed at customers from time to time - but insisted he only abused fake reviewers.

Aussies condemned Mr Chandra's tirades after one of them was shared to Reddit.

'It's the worst possible way to deal with negative reviews,' one said.
Another quipped: 'I hope he cooks better than he types.'
'For a business to reply to someone like this about anything is insane,' another said.
A fourth said: 'I'm a business owner who has gotten a few unhinged, unfair reviews... and I can't even fathom responding to people this way. It is essential to take the high road, remain professional, and not stoop to their level.'

Other users, however, expressed sympathy for Mr Chandra as a small business owner.

'Dude's probably struggling to do his best and stay afloat, and reviews like this can hurt his business,' one said.
