Set 22 years after the 2003 remake starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, the mother-daughter duo are back. Curtis told ABC7 that she called Disney CEO Bob Iger with the idea of doing the movie with Lohan -- something fans had been asking her about for years.

"I kept saying, 'Well, you know what? We can't make a sequel until Lindsay's old enough to have a teenager,'" Curtis explained. "They went, 'Jamie, she's 35.' I was like, 'She's not 35!' They were like, 'She's 35.' And I was like, 'Oh, sure! She could've had a baby at 20! Bob Iger!' So when I got home, I called Bob and we talked about it, and now we're here."

The first installment followed rebellious teenager Anna and her uptight mother, Tess, who swapped bodies after eating mysterious Chinese fortune cookies. Now, Anna is all grown up with a daughter of her own, Harper (Julia Butters), and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons).

In the next chapter, Anna's daughters also get caught up in the shenanigans, leading to a four-way body swap. "Two decades after an identity crisis, Anna's blended family faces new challenges," the synopsis reads. "Tess and Anna discover their past may be repeating with the next generation."

Freakier Friday had a solid run in theaters this summer, grossing $152 million worldwide, including $93 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo. Audiences have embraced the movie, giving it a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while critics awarded the film a respectable 74%.
