Gavin Casalegno may be part of a love triangle on The Summer I Turned Pretty, but off-screen, he's happily married.
The actor shocked fans in November 2024 when he hard-launched his relationship with Cheyanne King Casalegno by sharing photos from their wedding on Instagram. "FOREVER CAPTIVATED BY YOU🕊️," he captioned the post, which sparked a flood of reactions from followers who hadn't known the couple were dating.
While his marriage may have come as a surprise to some, Gavin has always been open about his intentional approach to dating.
"Being an adult, I've learned what it means to just mature a little bit in the dating space; You're dating to marry, you're not dating to just date," he said during a June 2023 interview with Cosmopolitan.
Since playing Jeremiah on The Summer I Turned Pretty, the third season of which premiered on Prime Video on July 16, Gavin has opened up about the ways the character has informed his own relationship.
"Ultimately, I think communication is key," he told PEOPLE ahead of the release. "And that's the answer that everybody [says] -- it's one of those cliché answers -- but until you're in a relationship, it's hard to understand the level of communication that is needed."

Gavin's first public relationship was with actress and model Larsen Thompson. The two met through Instagram after a photographer they had both worked with encouraged them to get together.
"We had shot with a mutual photographer, and the next week, Gavin ended up shooting with her, and she's like, 'Oh, my God, you have to meet this girl named Larsen. You guys would be so cute together,' " Thompson recalled in a February 2018 YouTube video.
Gavin chimed in and noted that the photographer "would not stop talking" about Thompson. From there, Gavin slid into Thompson's Instagram DMs and asked her to get coffee.
The pair began officially dating in February 2017 and were together for nearly six years before they seemingly called it quits in 2022. During their relationship, Gavin and Thompson made several red carpet appearances together, including NYLON's Annual Young Hollywood Party in 2018, Milan Fashion Week in February 2022 and The Daily Front Row's 6th Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards in April 2022.
Gavin also gave a rare glimpse into their romance during a June 2022 interview with Seventeen, revealing a romantic gesture he made for Thompson on her 16th birthday.
"I think the craziest gesture was when my current girlfriend had her 16th birthday party and I had only spent like a week with her at that point. I lived in Texas at the time and she was inviting all of her friends to the party," he recalled.
"I secretly bought a plane ticket out to go surprise her for her 16th. Her parents brought her to some restaurant at Universal Studios and I jumped out of the corner and fake proposed with a Hershey's kiss. Little did I know her dad was standing right there, and so that was the first time meeting him."
He added, "I haven't found a length that I wouldn't go to make a romantic gesture."
It's unclear exactly when the couple broke up, but Thompson was noticeably absent from the season 1 premiere of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and neither has spoken publicly about the split. They have also removed photos of each other from their respective Instagram accounts.
On Nov. 12, 2024, Gavin publicly confirmed his relationship with Cheyanne, a registered nurse, for the first time by announcing their marriage.
The actor shared a series of photos from their nuptials, including a shot of him tearing up as Cheyanne walked down the aisle and several photos of the pair exchanging vows. In a separate post featuring black-and-white photos of him and Cheyanne posing in a stairwell, Gavin referenced their under-the-radar relationship, writing, "Best Kept Secret💍🤍🔒."
He later opened up about his decision to keep their relationship private during an April 2025 interview with Page Six.
"I've done the opposite [before] where it was more public and weighed the pros and cons," he told the outlet. "I think your personal life and your work life should be separate. That's just really something I took to heart."
He continued, "We really want to grow in private and not in the public eye because sometimes when you're in the public eye, you can't get out of it. So why not just make the most of it and deepen that relationship rather than let the public have their opinions?"
Not much is known about the early days of Gavin and Cheyanne's romance, including how and when they met, but Cheyanne began soft-launching their relationship in May 2023, sharing romantic photos that hinted at a significant other, though she kept Gavin's face out of the frame.
She subtly marked their first anniversary the following May by sharing a photo on her Instagram Stories of him kissing her on the cheek, his face covered. "Me & Stinks Yr anniversary today🥺," she wrote.
Since tying the knot, Gavin and Cheyanne have begun sharing more glimpses into their relationship. In May 2025, Cheyanne documented their house-hunting journey on Instagram, posting several videos of them searching for a "forever home."
A few months earlier, during an interview with the DC Film Girl while promoting his movie Queen of the Ring, Gavin shared what marriage has taught him about himself.
"I think being married really highlights how selfish you can be," he said. "I was just kind of doing my own thing and doing stuff for me, and I think [marriage] really helps to get outside of yourself and start thinking about others more. It makes you more compassionate and selfless."
He jokingly added that he's "grateful for a patient wife."
