Grey's Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw said she got "chills" over a comment Amanda Knox made during her recent interview with her.

Newsweek reached out to Knox's representative via email for comment on Friday.

In 2007, Knox, then 20 years old, sparked an international frenzy when she was arrested and accused of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher, while on a study abroad program in Italy. The now-38-year-old spent nearly four years in an Italian prison before her conviction was overturned. She was exonerated of the crime in 2015.

Knox had falsely accused her boss, Patrick Lumumba, of Kercher's murder, and he spent two weeks in prison. She was later convicted of slander and received a three-year sentence.

On Monday's episode of Capshaw's Call It What It Is podcast, which she co-hosts with her Grey's Anatomy co-star Camilla Luddington, Knox -- who has maintained her innocence from the beginning -- reflected on her journey.

"To this day, there's not a day that goes by that I do not think about what happened and I'm not totally informed as a human being by what happened," she said. "It's very distant and very close at the same time."

In response, Capshaw said: "When you said that, first of all I got chills all over my body, but we talk a lot about -- Camilla [Luddington] and I talk about it privately, we talk about it publicly here -- but anyone who I get in a conversation with will know that purpose is kind of my number ones, it's definitely in the top three, of me understanding myself and which directions I move in because I am so purpose-driven."

The actress -- who played Dr. Arizona Robbins on Grey's for over 10 seasons -- asked if Knox was able to "dream" outside of her conviction.

Knox called the question "interesting" before saying "there were various phases" throughout her experience.

During her first two years in prison, the Hard Knox podcast host said she "lived in a state of hopefulness" and was "very much under the impression that it was all just a big misunderstanding."

Following the verdict in 2009, however, Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison, and she said she had to "grieve" things like relationships, motherhood and a career.

"Setting that aside even, there's this existential crisis of realizing that, 'Oh my God, the truth doesn't matter,'" Knox said. "Everything that I thought I could believe in and count on has either let me down or betrayed me."

@_camillasimon said in a note with 76 likes: "Disappointed to see y'all giving her a platform. There's a lot more to the story than what she's tried to sell America on."

@angela0317 remarked: "Loved her book. She was horrible [sic] mistreated by the Italian justice system."

@cjd2481 added: "This episode really seems to have divided the Call it Crew and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No matter how I feel about Knox, I did find the episode to be very open and informative. Thank you Jessica and Camilla for taking on this difficult conversation."

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, a series that chronicles Knox's wrongful accusation, premiered on Hulu on Wednesday. New episodes will be released weekly.
