Posing in a black tulle dress by high-end designer Roksanda, former Harry Potter star Katie Leung casts a different kind of spell in a new photoshoot for lifestyle bible Harper's Bazaar.
The stunning shoot featuring the Scots actress, whose break-out role saw her play Hogwarts student Cho Chang in the wizarding movies, is the latest glamorous outing from Ms Leung as she continues to promote her new role as Lady Araminta Gun in the Netflix smash-hit Bridgerton.
Ms Leung plays a twice-married, twice-widowed aristocrat in series four of the alternative history Regency romance.
The plot has sharp similarities to that of Cinderella, with Lady Araminta effectively taking on the role of the wicked stepmother as she seeks to marry off her two daughters, while one of her female servants attends a grand ball in disguise and captures the heart of the most eligible bachelor.
However, Ms Leung argues there's more to the character than any comparison to the classic fairytale.
She said: 'At the beginning, the show-runners emphasised how important it was to find Araminta's humanity, to include her past struggles. She has a real sense of purpose and the decisions she makes are out of love and protection in a world where marriage is all.'
Speaking of her similarities with her Bridgerton character, Ms Leung told Harper's Bazaar: 'There's something romantic about the way she floats about.'
'On the outside, she seems poised and calm, but the cogs are turning underneath.'
But 38-year-old Ms Leung also revealed that, despite enjoying playing Lady Araminta in the romantic Netflix show, she is still drawn to gritty scripts and is about to shoot a Channel 4 series - Careless, also starring fellow Scot Solly McLeod - which focuses on the foster care system.
'There's always a lot of melodrama in my roles. I'd love to do a kitchen-sink drama. Or comedy, which scares me,' she added, laughing.
'When I was younger, I was determined to meet everyone else's expectations, while I could never reach my own.'
'I don't have those same goals and, as a result, I've been given many more opportunities. It's been really freeing.'
Growing up in Motherwell, Ms Leung had no formal acting training before she was thrust into the spotlight, at the tender age of 16, to play Harry Potter's first love in The Goblet of Fire, the fourth film in the wizard franchise - a role that has shaped her public image ever since.
She then featured in all the subsequent sequels, including The Order of the Phoenix, The Half-Blood Prince and both parts of The Deathly Hallows.
