Honda is having to recall thousands of examples of one of its most popular models as the wheels might fall off in extreme circumstances.
The Honda Civic - a popular family hatchback that's been sold almost 30 million times worldwide - is being recalled in the UK due to wheel nut issues that could result in the car's wheel coming off while owners are behind the wheel.
Cars affected are those manufactured between 2017 and 2021. In the UK, this could be as many as 46,152 motors.
The EU Commission has said that the potentially terrifying situation has arisen because the wheel nut has been fastened with 'tightening torque that is too low', which means that the 'nuts could come loose while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in a risk of wheel loss, accident and injuries'.
Examples sold in Portugal, Sweden, Germany, France and Slovakia have been identified to have the same issue.
Auto Express reports that Honda has reassured customers that they 'can continue to drive their vehicle in its current condition'.

Honda UK has said it is contacting all registered keepers to arrange a free inspection and rectification.
Drivers of affected models will be contacted in the early part of this year, and drivers can use a QR system to submit their details via a Honda dealer.
Honda will check the information, and the car will be booked in to rectify the issue if needed.
The problem originated from the assembly line where the wheel nuts were tightened during assembly, and they can gradually loosen, which is of course poses an ongoing danger.
Previous recalls of the same ilk include a 2024 Porsche recall involving cars with centre-lock wheels, where wheel bolts did not meet required specifications.
But Porsche issued a stop-drive order to around 1,000 affected drivers in the UK.
The Honda Civic is a model gradually declining in popularity.
Its best sales year was 2007 when 43,872 were sold.
