That's exactly the gap Sofa Club set out to fill when founders Louis Rose and Tom O'Neill launched the brand back in 2012, with a mission to disrupt traditional furniture shopping and appeal to a younger, more impatient generation of interiors lovers.
And with designs from cosy corner sofas to creating your own layout with modular pieces, it's easy to see why the brand has become something of an influencer and fan favourite, with over 320,000 Instagram followers.
Each design is named after a location, from Soho to Marylebone, and most can be customised in terms of size and colour, making it easy to tailor the look to your space.
And while some of the more premium options at the Sofa Club do climb higher, you can still find a genuinely high-quality sofa for under £1,000. In today's market, that's no small feat.
Curious to see if it really lived up to the hype, I decided to try it for myself, without setting foot in a showroom, despite having one nearby, and the option of up to four free fabric swatches online.
And the biggest surprise? They actually looked even better in real life than they did online, and more expensive too. I was chuffed.
The sofas came boxed, neatly packaged and surprisingly easy to manoeuvre. Within minutes, the delivery team had unpacked everything and placed the pieces exactly where I wanted them.
No awkward manoeuvring, no waiting weeks on end, just an instant living room transformation.

The fabric had a richness that didn't fully come across on screen; though a quick browse through other buyers' sofas on Instagram gave a sense of how they looked in real life.
They strike that balance between comfort and style. They're supportive, particularly on the back, yet soft enough to properly relax into. I also rate how high the arms are - something my previous sofa lacked, and I quickly realised I wanted.
There are a few small things to note. While the legs are solid wood, I would have preferred the option of a darker finish rather than the lighter tone, as it would better match my living room furniture.
And while the removable covers are a big plus (especially if you're used to non-washable upholstery), they aren't secured with velcro to the base of the sofa.
That means I have to give the cushions a regular plump and adjust them now and then to keep everything sitting neatly, as they can shift slightly forward with use. Still, it feels like a small trade-off and not uncommon.
