Tired of losing sleep in the summer? Of tossing and turning in sweaty sheets while fans fail to cool you? We've found a solution to those boiling summer nights - and no, it's not another disappointing fan.

Described by users as a heatwave 'gamechanger', the Pulsio Thermasleep is the ultimate piece of sleep tech for when the temperature keeps you up at night. As someone who was sick of sleeping in an oven every night, I put it to the test.

Pulsio Thermasleep - Full Bed

Designed for hot and cold sleepers alike, the Pulsio Thermasleep is a smart, water‑powered mattress cover that lets you control the exact temperature of your bed, no new mattress required.

Laying flat beneath your fitted sheet and powered by a relatively discreet pod, this incredible piece of tech lets you control the temperature of your mattress, cooling to as low as 12°C or, ideal for winter, as high as 48°C.

Sleep is incredibly important; we all know that. With poor sleep affecting everything from fitness and stress to weight management, there's really no denying that getting a quality snooze each night is a non-negotiable.

But when that UK heatwave rolls around each year, getting eight hours of undisturbed sleep often becomes near impossible. Sticky heat, loud fans and open-window noise make for months of sweaty, restless nights.

So, when I was advertised the Pulsio Thermasleep I was immediately intrigued. A comparatively affordable alternative to the Eight Sleep Pod 5 Core (£2,699 for a Double plus monthly fees), this incredible sheet seemed like the answer to my heatwave prayers.

Available as either one full bed, half bed or dual-controlled zones for couples who prefer different temperatures, the Thermasleep could be your solution to temperature squabbles and sleepless nights.

But how does it work? The lightly cushioned mattress topper features invisible tubes that silently circulate temperature-regulated water without disrupting how your bed feels. You simply lay it on your mattress, then cover it with your usual fitted sheet.

These tracks ensure an even temperature across the mattress without hot patches or chilly areas, offering cooling or warming relief against your body rather than through airflow.

The minimalist Thermasleep pod and Bluetooth remote then allow you to control the temperature, with a backlit auto off screen for nighttime operation and a truly whisper-quiet design that leaves groaning AC units and noisy fans as simply an unpleasant memory.

You simply set your temperature about half an hour before you get into bed and you'll be able to enjoy a perfectly cooled (or heated) bed all night. You know that feeling of putting your head down on a cold pillow? Imagine that - but for your entire body.

And despite only being released last year, reviews have been loving the Pulsio design, calling it an 'excellent product' and '100 per cent worth the money'.

'Such a game changer, especially with the heatwaves we have been having.' Raved one impressed user. 'The Pulsio Thermasleep really improved the quality of our sleep. Priced more reasonably than Eight Sleep and we are very happy to support a British company.'
Another added: 'Only had the Thermasleep for a few weeks, but can't imagine not having it anymore. It's been ace. Pop it on about 30 minutes before I go to bed and presto. Compared to all the other makes, this is priced so well it's hard to believe.'
'Can't feel the topper, cools the bed and helps you sleep.Excellent product, cheap compared to alternatives;not sure there is anything not to like.' Wrote a third.

My thoughts:

I can't deny getting a bit of whiplash when seeing the price of the Thermasleep. £500 is a lot of money, and I was looking to buy it before it had even racked up any reviews, so I was going in fairly blind.

But at £500 it begged the question: How much is a cool and comfortable night's sleep worth to me?

After years of sleepless summer nights, tossing and turning in sweat-soaked sheets, ears full of noise from fans blowing warm air, I decided that for me, good sleep is, quite simply, priceless.

The unit is sleek, minimal and easy to use (ignore my hard water stains)

Our flat is incredibly hot - we live on the top floor of an apparently incredibly insulated flat and tend to get everybody's heat. We also live on a busy road in London, which means that a night with the window open means incredibly restless sleep, thanks to constant noise.

For these reasons, we've been using the Thermasleep every day for the past six months or so, fluctuating from a comfortable 16-20 degrees to 12 degrees on hotter nights. Needless to say, this clever topper really works.

The Pulsio Thermasleep is super easy to install. It's pretty much just a mattress topper with a pipe at the bottom that we tucked down between the bed slats. This connects to the pod, which we keep at the end of our bed.

My partner and I are hot sleepers and specifically wanted the Thermasleep for hot summer nights, so we opted for the full bed option at £499.99.

As a side note, we've used the hot setting on a few cold nights in the winter; it’s a cosy dream but if you just want it for heat then a good electric blanket will do the job.

After filling up the pod with water (I confess, you're supposed to use distilled water, but we use tap water. I think that distilled water probably works better and keeps the pipes clean. I will invest... soon), you simply pop it on with your bed made and wait about half an hour for the temperature to set.

This water will last a few months, so you don't have to keep filling it up. We like to switch on the bed just before we start getting ready for bed, and it’s at the perfect temperature when we climb in.

And there’s really no feeling like getting into a cool bed in the evening and sleeping truly well without throat-drying reused air from an AC unit and whirring fans.

While you can slightly feel the tracks of the tubes, they’re really not at all uncomfortable, and you almost instantly forget they’re there.

Instead, the entire bed simply becomes cool, allowing you to snuggle down in comfort without feeling smothered.

The pod is super quiet, too, and doesn't disturb our sleep at all. It's not silent, but just makes a background low whirring that white-noise sleepers would probably love.

To sum up, the Pulsio Thermasleep really is a game-changer. It keeps us cool on hot nights, and has resulted in night upon night of better, deeper and undisturbed sleep.

Every night, I'm greeted with a delightfully cool and fresh bed, allowing me to still use my duvet without getting clammy. I stay cool all night long; the temperature control is more than keeping up with me.

Sure, it's on the pricey side but if you added up prices of terrible fans you've bought over years you'd probably have spent even more on them. I doubt I'll even need a fan at all this summer.
