An 'angry and humiliated' influencer with a stammer has hit back at a football club who mocked her speech impediment with a string of 'shocking' videos on Wednesday's episode of Good Morning Britain.

TikToker Jessie Yendle, who is a campaigner for those with speech impediments, appeared on the ITV show to talk to hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls about the situation.

'Stammering, also sometimes referred to as stuttering, affects speech and is relatively common in childhood. It can also can persist into adulthood,' according to the NHS.

Speaking to viewers, Ed told those watching at home that Jessie was: 'Was left shocked, hurt and heartbroken after two major sporting organisations around the world used a clip of her stammering, actually during an interview on Good Morning Britain as part of a social media trend.'

The German football club Borussia Dortmund and triathlon organiser Iron Man edited the footage, which was from an interview on GMB in August last year, onto some of their own and posted it online.

Susanna asked: 'When you saw it, what did you think?'

Jessie said: 'I was shocked, I felt humiliated straight away.

'I've spent so many years of my life being misunderstood and judged and I've spent so many years raising awareness about my speech impediment...

'When I saw the video, I thought to myself, I'm so much more than my speech impediment, yeah, I feel really angry about it.'

She added: 'I've had an apology off Iron Man and I've been offered free tickets and I declined those football tickets.

'That's not what I'm about, I haven't spent my life feeling this way, raising awareness to be offered free football tickets.

'The thing for me is that the apology, it was like when you have bad customer service somewhere.

'It was a general apology, I was thinking to myself, if you do truly care, let me come to your head quarters and I can educate on speech impediments.'

Ed then went on to tell her to look down at the camera and tell them why they are wrong.

Jessie said: 'I am so proud to be someone who has a speech impediment.

'I've spent my entire life, people telling me "you cant do this, cant do that".

'I'll make sure that my community will never have to feel like this ever again.

'I want a public apology.

'You can send it to me, but it's the community.

'We need a public apology. That's what I want from them.

'I want them to recognise the damage that they've done.'

Daily Mail have contacted Iron Man and Borussia Dortmund for comment.

Susanna read out on the TV show that Borussia Dortmund had said it was 'absolutely not our intention to embarrass, insult or attack anyone'.

She later read out a statement from Iron Man which said: 'We continue to be incredibly sorry and regretful for the hurt and upset this has caused Jessie, as well as the impact it has had on the wider community.

'Upon realising our mistake we tried to correct our fault by removing the video, and apologised immediately to Jessie offering our support to shine a light on the work she does for people living with speech impairments.'

Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their support towards Jessie.

'I have a #stammer myself & it angers me to think big names (who people look up to) can do this. I back Jessie Yendle in calling for a public apology!'
'Some people are just fking nasty.'
'Bizarre they thought it would be ok...'

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 from 6am and is available to stream on ITVX.
