Melania Trump may be preparing to resume her role as the First Lady, but her first priority is still being a mom.
The 54-year-old is sure to always support only son Barron Trump with the pair maintaining an open line of communication - especially with Donald Trump, 78, returning to the White House.
According to multiple insiders, the former first lady is doing whatever she can to support 18-year-old Barron, and she worried about 'the hate in the country and how it falls on her son, who is innocent of any of this.'
'She is and has been a good sounding board for him. They talk about life as it is and how they are in the spotlight,' the source shared with People.
'She tries to normalize his life. If that is even possible,' they added.
Family is very important to Melania and her parents have been a big part of Barron's life. Her mother, Amalija Knavs, passed away in January but she remains close to her father.
'Melania's most meaningful moments of life have been with her family, and Barron is the lucky benefactor of that love and caring,' the insider explained.
Melania and her son have a close relationship, with Barron staying close to him, despite now being a college freshman.
The teen son of Donald Trump started classes at New York University's Stern School of Business in September, with another source telling People Melania is - and always has been - a present parent.
'Any child in the world spotlight like this would be lucky to have a parent so willing to give her time to help keep his life running smoothly,' the source said.
'She wants to encourage him to make friends, be super careful of the haters which can be anywhere -- especially on college campuses these days -- and keep him mentally healthy by having open communication with him and the rest of her immediate family,' they explained.
Recently, sources revealed why Melania is keeping him away from the college campus.
'She will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student,' a source told People.
'Living in a dorm in a college town isn't in the stars for him at this point,' they added.
According to the source, Barron 'already has his own political ideas.'
'It all needs to be monitored in light of the situation.'

They added that his mother feels it's best that he remain at home, rather than campus housing, for the time being, especially with his dad about to become president again.

Melania Trump told Fox News last month that she is busy preparing for the move to Washington, D.C.
She pointed out she lived in the White House for four years and knows it well.
'This time it's very different because we already know where we are going and we have all of the plans from before. So we don't need to go back in,' she told Fox & Friends.
'My team is in contact with the White House, so that's a plus. But we have all what we need, so this is the second time so it's nothing new. The first time was challenging. We didn’t have much access; we were in on January 20th. But this time it’s already in the process,' she added.
Melania said she is busy packing her things, setting up her office and interviewing staff.
'I know what you need to establish,' she said. 'You know what kind of people you need to hire to be in your office. So that’s what I’m doing now. I’m interviewing people for my office. I’m establishing everything what is needed so we could start on day one; everybody’s in and we start working.'
Melania indicated to Fox & Friends she plans to bring back her Be Best initiative. She also talked about her collectibles, such as NFT and Christmas ornaments, that she sells online.
