Apple sent out invitations to what it calls a special experience on Wednesday, March 4. It'll take place in three locations simultaneously: New York, London and Shanghai. That's all Apple has said, but there's a lot more to know. Here are the latest details of what will be announced, when, and exactly when it will go on sale.
Apple iPhone 17e Unveil: Monday, March 2 Or Tuesday, March 3
Some analysts, like John Gruber at Daring Fireball, have theories that Apple will actually reveal the products before the event. What he calls his "spitball guess" is that there will be a press release detailing one product category each day in the week leading up to the Wednesday event. I think that's spot-on. It's a formula Apple has followed before, though not with the special experience at its climax.
So, Monday, March 2 could see an announcement for one of the products. Three different product categories are expected: iPhone 17e, possibly two iPads and maybe three Macs. I believe Apple will save the Macs for the Wednesday to coincide with the event.
Which means the iPhone and iPad announcements will occupy Monday and Tuesday. I have no idea which way around things will happen but my best guess is the Monday, March 2 will see the iPhone 17e revealed.
After all, that day is the opening of Mobile World Congress, the mobile phone trade show in Barcelona and Apple does like to grab attention during such events.
The iPhone 17e is expected to look similar to the iPhone 16e which it will replace but it will probably have a much-requested MagSafe upgrade and, perhaps, a move from a screen cut-out to Dynamic Island.
Apple iPad And iPad Air Unveil: Tuesday, March 3
This could be the Monday unveil, but I think Tuesday is more likely. Many rumors report to a new entry-level iPad with 11-inch display and a new iPad Air.
The iPad should have the same design as now, though probably some different colors. The big news is likely to be a processor that can handle Apple Intelligence -- it’s the only current iPhone or iPad that can’t.
The iPad Air will see a chip-up as well, likely to the M4 processor.
New MacBook Unveil: Wednesday, March 4
Arguably the most exciting new product will be the return of the MacBook, in bright colors and a lower price.
Alongside it Apple may unveil two new MacBook Pro models, one with M5 Pro and one with M5 Max processors.
Finally, there could be one other Mac. It could be an upgraded MacBook Air.
Release Date: Latest Prediction
Unless one of the products (such as the iPad and iPad Air) has a release date on Wednesday, March 11, which is possible, I believe all the new stuff will go on sale on Friday, March 13.
