Jesy Nelson has claimed one of the other Little Mix members tried to quit the band before she ultimately decided to leave the group - and this is seemingly who it is.

The singer, 34, has admitted she was 'blindsided' by the unnamed member's decision to leave the girl band and had believed that everyone was happy at the time.

It was reported five years ago that Perrie Edwards was the one to try and leave the band first - and Jesy's latest claims appear to have confirmed the narrative.

Jesy said one of her other former bandmates - Perrie, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall - wanted to leave at the start of 2020.

Speaking in her new Prime Video documentary Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix: 'I thought everyone was in a really good place, but I was wrong.
'We got called in for a meeting and I just had this gut feeling that it wasn't going to be good.

Jesy Nelson has revealed for the first time how one of the other Little Mix members tried to quit the band before she ultimately decided to leave the group.

Jesy has opened up about one of her other former bandmates - Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall - wanted to leave at the start of 2020.

'One of the girls had decided they didn't want to be in the band any more. I remember feeling my whole world had fallen apart.'
'It was a really sad day - me and Jade really cried. I was devastated.'

When asked to name the Little Mix star in question, she said: 'I don't think that's for me to say because they still haven't said.

'It's been really hard to not speak out about this. I thought we'd be together forever. It was never my decision to leave first.'

Following the meeting, it was decided Little Mix would end, but Jesy admits things became 'messy' when the band's conclusion was pushed back by two years, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

She then had a 'very quick realisation' that she 'wasn't happy', admitting she had 'mentally checked out' of the girl group.

Jesy says in the documentary: 'That was the moment I thought, I can't do this anymore. I just remember thinking, I cannot last another two years.

'I felt like it [the relationship with the girls] had shifted. There would be days I would cry and be a miserable b*h. All those little things build up and build up and they do get to a boiling point.'

In 2021, a source told the Sun that Perrie opened up to the band's management about how she wanted to leave two years before

The insider said: 'Perrie actually told the band she was thinking about leaving in 2019 which prompted a sit down with management.

'In the end she agreed it wasn't the right time and they talked about the Confetti tour which was delayed due to Covid - it was known that after the tour Perrie would bow out of the group.'

They shot to fame on The X Factor in 2011 and went on to become one of the most successful girl groups at the time, selling over 75 million records worldwide.

After nine years, Jesy announced her split from Little Mix in 2020, stating that she wanted to prioritise her 'mental health and wellbeing'.

Jesy quit the group in November 2020 after it became too much for her to bear, and was 'really hurt' when her lawyer told her bandmates she was to quit the band, before she had chance to tell them herself.

She added: 'I think they felt really hurt about that and it should never have played out like that.

'I didn't get my opportunity to explain why I couldn't do this anymore. I feel mad that that was taken away from me.'

She also explained that her Little Mix bandmates would only speak to her with a therapist present as she opened up about their split, as she revealed her hopes of clearing up any 'false narratives'.

Jesy revealed that it wasn't her decision to leave the band first, as another member had said they wanted to quit before her.

But after being pushed back into their hectic schedules following the Covid-19 pandemic, Jesy reached a breaking point with her mental health after suffering from a series of panic attacks.

Jesy decided to sit the band down and explain how she felt, yet their reaction was far from what she had hoped for.

Now, in her new Prime Video docuseries Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, the singer opened up about their split for the first time, hoping that any 'false narratives' will be 'put to bed'

She said: 'I just felt like no one cared. And I remember one of their responses being like, 'Are you done now? Is that it?'

'And I just remember feeling like, whoa. That just made me feel like really alone and there's just no point to this, like no one cares.'

Jesy's mental health continued to spiral, and she ended up in hospital.

It was this moment that she decided her time in the band was up, and she needed to focus on her well-being.

She explained: 'I just was so sad, I was so down. I just knew that moment I came out of hospital, I just mentally couldn't it.

'Before I could even have a discussion with the girls, I needed to figure out where I was legally, in terms of, could I even come out of it now?

'Unfortunately, the lawyer ended up letting them know that I wanted to leave before I could even let them know.

'So I think they felt really hurt by that, and it should have never have played out like that.

'I feel mad how that was taken away from me. I didn't get my opportunity to explain why I couldn't do this anymore.'

Jesy continued: 'I got myself up mentally and was like, right, I want to have a chat with the girls now, I wanna chat to them and tell them why, I did what I did, like how I’ve been feeling.

'Just really explain to them, try to make them understand how I was feeling.'

'And then my manager called, and she was like, ‘so I've spoke to the girls and they are happy to chat to you, but they don’t feel comfortable being in a room with you unless there is a therapist there’.

I just remember being like, what? I've just come out of hospital, like this is the time I need you the most.

I don’t know, I just didn’t feel like they were my sisters.

Jesy explained that even though it's now been five years since the band parted ways, she still thinks about how it all played out.

After Jesy left the band, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade continued performing as a trio until 2022.

She said: 'Everytime I think about it, like, was it them, or was it the management?

'I will never know that because we never got to have that conversation.

'And then there was eventually a phone call, and it was just really awkward, and it was just so weird because it was like talking to strangers.

'It was the most uncomfortable phone call I've ever had; no one knew what to say...

'And that was the last time I ever spoke to them as a group.'

Later on in the docuseries, Jesy was asked if she ever sees herself reuniting with the band.

She replied: 'I really don't know. I see both sides. I see why they would be sad and hurt.'

Jesy continued: 'They reached out to me when I was pregnant; it was lovely because I never thought that would happen.

'It made me really emotional. We’re grown women now; we’ve got kids; and I just think there are so many more important things in life.

'It’s just one of those things that need to be put to bed now.'

After Jesy left the band, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade continued performing as a trio until 2022.

They then announced an indefinite hiatus following their Confetti tour to pursue individual projects.

Perrie released her debut solo album, Perrie, in September 2025, which reached number three on the UK Albums Chart.

Meanwhile, Leigh-Anne launched her solo career in 2023 with the single Don't Say Love, followed by My Love.

In 2024, she released the EP No Hard Feelings and performed her first headline show.

Jade signed a solo deal in 2022 and released her debut single, Angel of My Dreams, in July 2024.

She won a Brit Award as a breakout solo star in early 2025.

Jesy has released singles Boyz, Bad Thing, and Mine.

In 2026, she shared that her music plans are on hold to focus on raising her twin daughters
