Gavin & Stacey may well be a thing of the past, but Joanna Page admits her hectic career still impacts her relationship with husband James Thornton.

The Welsh actress, who played out her last scenes on the hugely popular sitcom last Christmas, enjoys a comfortable life in Oxfordshire with Thornton and their four children, Eva, 12, Kit, 10, Noah, eight, and three-year-old daughter Boe.

But she admits a combination of professional and personal commitments often restricts the couple's personal life, notably the opportunity to be intimate.

'We don't do date nights as there's too much going on and I can't be arsed,' she told OK!
'And while it’s wonderful and hectic and fun, James and I can go through huge chunks of not seeing or speaking to each other. So now they are all at school, we can sit down, have a little coffee and actually talk.
'James is going, "Can we connect in other ways? Let's go upstairs and have a quick sh*g on the bed!" But I'm like, "No, let's have a coffee first. A bit of cake and a chat and, once we're emotionally connected, then you can have a bit of sex!"'

Page says a combination of professional and personal commitments often affects their personal life, notably the opportunity to be intimate.

'Suddenly we've got a relationship again! It's wonderful. That's where we are at the moment.'

Page, 48, married fellow actor Thornton in 2003 after meeting four years earlier while filming a star-studded BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield.

But she admits the moment that led to her falling pregnant with youngest child Boe had more in common with Emily Brontë and Wuthering Heights after she returned home from a school drop off to be confronted by her partially clothed husband.

'I drove home and James was standing in the garden, bare chested with low slung tracksuit bottoms, and looked like a rough, sexy gardener,' she recalled.
'I was like, "Oh, my God, you’re gorgeous." I fancy him so much and he still fancies me, thankfully!"

Page also recalled a less favourable encounter with another 'gorgeous' actor while filming the gothic horror, From Hell.

The actress played prostitute Ann Crook in the 2001 blockbuster alongside leading man Johnny Depp as drug-addled detective Frederick Abberline, but she was mortified after breaking wind in front of the star on set.

She told HELLO! magazine: 'I don't usually go for pretty boys, but I remember him walking across the set towards me in this black wig, and I've never seen anybody look more beautiful; he was absolutely stunning.

'That evening, we all went for a meal together, and he came and sat next to me. He had the most gorgeous, long, hazelnut hair, and I remember thinking, "He's got hair like Jennifer Aniston."

'He tried to talk to me, and I couldn't talk to him; he was too good-looking. So I ignored him all night.'

She added: 'At the end of the evening, he said, "Can we give you a lift?", and when we were standing outside the hotel, he slid his arms around my waist, and then slowly kissed me on either side of my lips.

'I was in a trance, because he was just beautiful. Then I ran upstairs, phoned my mum and started screaming, "Johnny Depp just kissed me!"

However, the next day, when they shot a scene in which Joanna played a prostitute who just had a lobotomy - a surgical operation where cuts are made in or near the front part of the brain, which has been used to treat severe mental problems - she broke wind in front of him.

The Gavin & Stacey star remembered: 'Johnny said, "Oh my God, who's just farted?" And I should have just gone,"It was me; I was getting into character and getting into it."

'But I just looked around going,"Oh yeah,gosh,w ho's farted?"'
