Julianne Hough has once again left many horrified after her blackface Halloween costume resurfaced online over a decade later.

The Dancing with the Stars pro, 37, shocked partygoers in 2013 when she dressed up as Suzanne 'Crazy Eyes' Warren, played by Uzo Aduba, on the Netflix show Orange Is the New Black.

For the look, Julianne wore her locks in a knotted hair do and dressed in a bright orange jumpsuit which also featured a name badge.

She also controversially painted her face black. Blackface is deemed racist and incredibly offensive. Traditionally it was used to portray a caricature of Black people.

While Julianne has twice apologized for the offense caused by her costume, many have been left stunned after seeing it for the first time.

Taking to Reddit, one wrote: 'I often think about how Julianne Hough didn't see a problem with blackface until she was literally inside that Halloween party.'
Another asked: 'Why couldn't she have just used her actual face to dress as the very obvious white woman main character if she wanted to do OITNB so badly?'
A third quipped: 'You'd think famous people would get like a crash course in Common Sense and Social Awareness from their PR reps the day they need to hire one.'
'Like how can you be in the public eye and so unbelievably ignorant that you didn't think this would be unacceptable?' asked a fourth.
Another responded: 'Oh my GOSH???? WHAT THE F*.'
'How dim can a person be???' asked a sixth.

Shortly after photographs were published of Julianne's offensive costume, she issued an apology online.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, at the time, she said: 'I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created.'

'It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.'

Julianne apologized again in 2021 when she faced criticism over the controversial CBS competition show, The Activist, which pitted activists against each other.

'Wearing blackface was a poor choice based on my own white privilege and white body bias that hurt people and is something that I regret doing to this day,' she said

Julianne addressed the controversy surrounding her blackface in a statement shared in 2021

'However, the regret that I live with pales in comparison to the lived experiences of so many.
'My commitment has been to reflect and act differently. Not perfectly, but hopefully with a more developed understanding that racism and white supremacy is harmful to ALL people.'

Julianne isn't the only celebrity to have caused upset with an inappropriate Halloween costume.

Chloe Sevigny sparked outrage after she dressed up as dead Princess Diana two years after the royal died following a car crash in Paris.

Bill Maher also caused backlash after he dressed as a dead Steve Irwin just weeks after the Crocodile Hunter's death in 2006.
