Good Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Robert Rinder were left overjoyed as one of the ITV show's behind-the-scenes stars revealed their engagement on air.

The hosting duo rushed to congratulate their colleague as it was discussed live on air during the episode that hit screens on Thursday (March 26).

Kate, 58, and Rob, 47, were joined live by Andi Peters who appeared via a video link from Milan as he announced the details of the latest ITV competition.

Andi, 55, was quick to drag his behind-the-scenes colleague in front of the camera to show off her sparkling ring as they announced the engagement on air.

Molly, who is a member of the team working on Good Morning Britain, laughed as Andi announced: 'This is a member of my team, and she just got engaged.'

The two hosts offered up their congratulations, before Kate responded: 'That was a bit quick on the ring. We need to see a bit more of that next time.'

Molly was then brought back on screen to show off the rock on her finger, leaving Kate gushing: 'How gorgeous. Well done, congratulations.'

'I'd say he's batting, as Molly is gorgeous,' Andi then joked of her fiancé, as he and Molly threw their hands up in the air and celebrated the news.

It's not the first time that an engagement has been announced live on air, as last year, Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were seen congratulating 'one of their own'.

Davina McCall's engagement to partner Michael Douglas was announced back in September, with insiders verifying the reports.

ITV showbusiness reporter Richard Arnold was seen announcing live on air in the days following: 'As I wrap up this morning, lovely news to announce that Davina McCall is engaged, our very own!

'Davina has been with her celebrity hairdresser and beau Michael Douglas for seven years now and the pair are finally tying the knot.'

It comes after GMB fans were left livid as Kate and co-star Ranvir Singh 'spoiled' the result of a huge TV show 'without any warning'.

ITV viewers flooded social media in fury after Kate and Ranvir, 48, discussed the finale of Channel 4's new controversial gameshow Handcuffed.

The competition show tasked pairings from very different backgrounds with staying handcuffed together for as long as possible in order to win a £100,000 prize.

The show came to an end earlier this week, with one pairing lasting longer than their co-stars, despite nearly reaching breaking point just hours into the experiment.

Through the six episodes, hosted by Jonathan Ross, the 18 contestants were slowly whittled down, with just one duo left standing at the end.

However, without any warning, the GMB presenting duo went on to discuss the winners of the series - with the ITV show playing a clip of their big win.

It left fans of the show who had not yet tuned in to the finale furious, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to hit out: 'Thanks @GMB for giving the result of Handcuffed at the top of the show with no warning!'

'Thank you for that spoiler!' a second chimed in, as a third added: 'Only been a couple of days as well when it finished.'

Someone else penned: 'Don't appreciate the spoiler, GMB. I haven't caught up yet,' as a fifth wrote: 'I think you just spoilt Handcuffed for people who are still watching.'

'That needed to have a spoiler alert GMB I have not watched the whole show yet and well didn't expect to see that clip then! That's annoyed me.'

Elsewhere, competition announcer Andi fought back the tears on Good Morning Britain after the show's competition winner's heart-wrenching reaction to scoring the jackpot back in December.

Adil Ray, 51, and Charlotte Hawkins, 50, returned to the ITV studio to share the latest news and headlines with those watching at home.

Andi, who appears on GMB and Lorraine to share the programme's competitions, was back in the studio to tell one lucky viewer that they got their hands on cash and prizes worth more than £245,000.

After trying to get hold of the winner a number of times, Andrea from Bangor finally picked up and he told her the good news.

Andi asked her: ‘Do you recognise my voice? It’s me off the telly.’

He continued: ‘Did you enter a competition to win a prize on ITV? Are you over 18 Andrea? Are you the bill payer for this phone?

‘Well Andrea, I’ve got some good news for you. You have just won... brace yourself... 35 individual prizes, two cars and £120,000.’

Andrea couldn’t contain her emotion and burst into tears.

She said: ‘Oh my goodness.’ Andi asked: ‘Can you believe it?!’

Andrea told him: ‘No! Oh my goodness. This is true?’

‘This is definitely true... How does this moment feel?’ Andi asked her.

Crying with happiness, Andrea said: ‘Oh my goodness, thank you so, so much. Thank you. Oh my goodness.’

Andi asked her: ‘Is the money going to make a difference?’

‘A massive difference. A massive difference. Oh my goodness,’ Andrea said.

Andi told her: ‘Andrea, congratulations. Thank you so much for watching the show. Have the best Christmas ever.’

Andrea told him that she 'certainly' would and Andi told her: ‘You’re more than welcome.’ Looking over at the crew, he continued: ‘Oh she’s going to make me upset. You’re more than welcome. Alright? Take care!’

As Andi put the phone down, his voice broke and he said: ‘Oh my goodness. I love this bit of the job.’

‘I genuinely do. Congratulations Andrea. We will be in touch with you shortly.’

As the camera went back to Charlotte, she said: ‘That was such a special moment.’

Andi is well known for being a TV presenter.

He started his career in children's telly and joined ITV In 2014.

Over the years he's hosted the likes of The Broom Cupboard, Two Two and Live and Kicking.

He's also produced The Noise, The O-Zone, Top of the Pops and Shipwrecked.
