Keri Russell shared her opinion on the impossibly high beauty standards and plastic surgery trends in Hollywood.

The actress, 49, discussed how she's 'totally empathetic' with her character on The Diplomat, U.S. Ambassador Kate Wyler, whose makeup free appearance is often judged by other characters.

The Felicity star admitted that while she likes her on-screen look, she feels it's 'strange' to look natural given the pressure for physical perfection.

'It's such a weird thing being a woman. Everyone has an opinion about the way you look, the way you dress, the way your hair is,' she told People in a new interview.
'It's something my girlfriends and I talk about all the time. Plastic surgery is having such a moment right now -- men, women, 20-year-olds. I mean, it is around,' the actress added.
'We're inundated with these movie stars. Even though they might be 50 or 60 years old, they look amazing.'

She went on: 'I watch this show and I'm like, I do not look like that, you know. I like the way I look on the show, and it’s amazing that I feel like that’s strange, like that’s a unique thing to look like that, but it is.'

'It’s just the nature of our society. But I also find it really enjoyable, I mean, it’s like a fun thing to play,' she said of her character.

Russell went on: 'I like how cranky she is about it, and how she’s always trying to fight people about it, and is rude about it. I love it. I find it delightful.'

She also recently told the outlet that she 'loved' the show's nod to the long-running discussion about her hair.

In episode 4 of season 3 her character has a terse conversation with a secret service agent who is meant to be her double, as she criticizes her disheveled hair.

'It’s not like I don’t wash it. I do. And I comb it,' her character says.
'It’s a style. That style is: not looking like you spend hours [doing your hair], because some people have more important things to do. It’s not: couldn’t get the top up on the convertible.'

Season 3 of The Diplomat is currently streaming on Netflix.

'Then they cut my hair on the show. They were like, "Would you do that?" I was like, "Yeah." Because the character wasn't known to be this beautiful person. She was this nerdy, kind of overly emotional college student.
'And I thought, Of course, every one of my friends cut their hair. They'd break up with a boy, and then they'd have this terrible haircut. So I thought it was perfect.'
'But it was crazy. People were very upset by that haircut. Sorry.'
