A Celebrity Antiques Road Trip expert said he was 'worried' after EastEnders star Laila Morse threatened to 'kick a dealer in the shins' to get a better price.

The actress, 80, appeared on the hit BBC show, in a episode repeated on Thursday, alongside Rita Simons - who played Roxy Mitchell on the beloved soap.

The hardy pair scoured Devon for antique treasures, aided by experts Catherine Southon and Angus Ashworth, in the hopes of making a profit.

Fiercely competitive from the get-go, Laila brought an aggressive determination to the thrifting competition.

As they made their way to Devon, Rita and Laila swapped notes about their haggling tactics, with Rita confessing she isn't afraid to turn on the charm for a better price.

When introduced to her expert partner Angus, Laila made her own method known.

'What about the negotiation side of things?' Angus asked. 'Are you a tough negotiator?'

Laila replied: 'Well I'm going to try,' she then raised a fist before adding: 'Otherwise, I'm going to get them in a headlock!'

Elsewhere in the episode, Dorking-born Laila came across an ornate chair she liked the look of, but she was tasked with negotiating down the £110 price tag.

'I like it, I think it’s nice,' she said, before Angus chimed in: 'I think we need to get a reasonable discount on that to give us a fighting chance. But we can try and negotiate'

But Laila had a different idea. 'Well, I could kick him in the shins?' she suggested.

In mock-disbelief, Angus stepped back and put a hand over his mouth, adding: 'We could try. There's no harm in trying, is there?'

Good-natured Laila burst out laughing. 'Or we could just ask him politely if he'll let us have it for 50 quid.'

'I'm just a bit worried, in case we don't make good profits.I'm going to get... You know..' Angus said, as he grabbed his leg and stumbled backwards.

It follows recent news that the BBC quietly shelved the beloved daytime show after 15 years on air in a gutting blow to fans.

While offshoots of the programme have been confirmed for new episodes, the celebrity version has been put to one side.

Celebrity Antiques Road Trip followed two celebs as they scoured the country for hidden treasures in the hope of fetching high prices at a later auction.

The chosen personalities typically knew each other or had previously worked or competed side by side, so the element of competition was ripe and made for great watching.

But avid viewers have been dealt a blow as the broadcaster revealed the show has now been shelved.

A source told Sun Online: 'Celebrity Antiques Road Trip has proved a popular show for the BBC, but the focus right now is the original version of the show.'
'A final decision hasn't been made on its future just yet, but it's definitely being rested for the remainder of the year and bosses will reassess in 2026.'

And the future of two other antiquing shows was confirmed by the BBC in July.

Antiques Road Trip has amassed 31 series since its debut in 2010; quickly becoming a fan-favourite and staple of the TV schedule.

Bosses confirmed they've officially green-lit a 32nd series; with 20 brand new episodes of the afternoon show ordered.
