On Nice's famed Promenade des Anglais, Le Negresco is as much a part of the coastal city's identity as the Baie des Anges itself. With its Belle Époque façade and candy-pink dome, it's a place where time feels suspended and the history of the Cote d'Azur comes alive at every touchpoint.
Now, the hotel is unveiling one of its most ambitious projects to date: the complete transformation of its sixth floor, once the private quarters of legendary owner Jeanne Augier, into the extraordinary Jeanne & Paul Penthouse Suite. Alongside it, the launch of N Le Spa mark a new era for the Riviera icon.
Stepping into the Jeanne & Paul Penthouse Suite is stepping into a piece of Le Negresco's living history, reinterpreted for the present day. Encompassing over 4,300 square feet, complete with a 180-degree view over the Baie des Anges, the suite was conceived by architect and designer Jean-Philippe Nuel, who also created the hotel's N Le Spa. "Beyond beauty, it is about imbuing a sense of meaning that blends harmoniously with Le Negresco and the city of Nice," Nuel says.
Under the hotel's iconic dome, the main salon opens in dramatic fashion, offering a stage for both quiet contemplation and vibrant gatherings. Nuel worked with storied French makers, including Duvivier to craft bespoke furnishings. The suite is divided into two distinct halves: the Paul Suite, an elegant junior suite with an intimate feel; and the Jeanne Suite, which features a light-filled bedroom, serene library and fully equipped office.
Material choices are a study in textural juxtaposition: Carrara marble meets the warmth of precious woods, while the rich textures of Lelièvre and Pierre Frey textiles -- both certified Living Heritage Companies -- bring depth and tradition. Art from Jeanne Augier's personal collection punctuates the interiors, underscoring the hotel's reputation as a "living museum" of French and international creativity.
"We aim to collaborate with local partners who have already contributed to the reputation of Le Negresco, to maintain a relationship of trust, and to promote exceptional expertise," Nuel says.
Completing Le Negresco's new chapter is N Le Spa, a sanctuary conceived by Nuel to echo the serenity of the Côte d'Azur. Adjacent to the legendary Salon Royal, N Le Spa is a 7,535 square-feet sanctuary that serves as a dialogue between heritage and modernity. Cornices, Carrara marble and liquidambar wood set the stage for boudoirs, treatment rooms and a luminous pool where art and wellness intertwine. Guests can indulge in Olivier Claire and Vinésime rituals, bespoke Codage serums, and fragrances from Maison Godet, all complemented by MICHELIN-starred chef Virginie Basselot's culinary creations. More than a spa, it is a celebration of craftsmanship, artistry, and holistic well-being.
In both the Jeanne & Paul Penthouse Suite and the N Le Spa, that interpretation is clear: an embrace of modern comfort and craft that never loses sight of the past. True to form, Le Negresco doesn't simply update its offering -- it renews its promise as one of the Riviera's great addresses.
