The Duchess of Sussex's tenure as a working royal was unexpectedly brief, with her attending Christmas at Sandringham just twice.

Meghan's grand debut came when she joined Prince William and Princess Kate on the traditional walk to St Mary Magdalene Church, cautiously holding onto her then-fiancé Prince Harry's arm.

Naturally, the 3,000 onlookers - some of whom had camped out overnight - were eager to catch a glimpse of the newest family member and, of course, her outfit.

Meghan wore a Sentaler wrap coat and thigh-high Stuart Weitzman boots, topped with a bespoke hat by Philip Treacy for the occasion.

This distinctive beret would spark a series of collaborations between the acclaimed milliner and the duchess.

Beret with twist detail

In 2017, a newly engaged Meghan joined the Royal Family for the Christmas Day church service at Sandringham, marking her first public appearance in a hat.

She chose a custom piece by Philip Treacy - a contemporary dome-shaped beret, crafted from nutmeg brown velour with twist detailing.

This chic hat effortlessly complimented Meghan's beige wrap coat by Sentaler, tan Stuart Weitzman boots and Chloe handbag.

Dragonfly beret

For the Anzac Day memorial service at Westminster Abbey in 2018, the duchess wore an all-black ensemble, pairing it with another custom beret by Philip Treacy.

While the off-the-peg design showcased a cluster of beaded dragonflies, Meghan’s version was more understated, featuring just one small insect.

She completed her refined aesthetic with an Emilia Wickstead dress and matching cropped jacket, Manolo Blahnik pumps and a Jimmy Choo clutch.

Saucer hat

Shortly after her wedding, Meghan attended then-Prince Charles's 70th birthday patronage celebrations in a blush-toned outfit.

She wore an elegant Goat dress with Tamara Mellon court shoes and a Philip Treacy saucer hat, perfectly angled to flatter her look.

Meghan added sparkle with a diamond bracelet and matching stud earrings by Vanessa Tugendhaft, accentuated by a polished chignon.

Slice hat

At her first Trooping the Colour, Meghan embraced a ladylike charm with a pale pink off-shoulder dress by Carolina Herrera and coordinating Philip Treacy slice hat.

The original straw hat design included silk satin rosettes, though Meghan opted for a custom version without them, achieving a minimalist feel.

Wave hat

During her debut at Royal Ascot, Meghan beamed in a monochrome ensemble by Givenchy.

She again collaborated with Philip Treacy, selecting his Wave hat from the spring/summer 2018 collection.

The hat’s curved silhouette and elongated bow detailing added a dramatic flair to Meghan’s appearance, giving her outfit a touch of pizzazz.

Straw hat with ribbon

In October 2018, Harry and Meghan officially opened the Anzac Memorial in Sydney, Australia.

Meghan donned a solemn yet sophisticated look, opting for a black Emilia Wickstead dress, teamed with Tabitha Simmons slingback pumps and diamond jewellery from Pippa Small and Tiffany & Co.

She added a Philip Treacy straw hat, adorned with a buntal ribbon, which brought a tasteful touch to her ensemble.

Velvet knot beret with veil

For the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey in 2019, Meghan sported a chic, understated outfit.

She paired a textured Sentaler coat with Tamara Mellon leather slouch boots, elevating the look with a structured beret from Philip Treacy's autumn/winter 2019 collection.

The hat, customised in navy blue, featured a knot detail and a veil with shorter, wider-spaced netting for a striking finish.
