New footage shows police officers in Yorkshire finding and weaving through a 'maze-like' cannabis factory predicted to be worth more than £750,000.

Officers peel back plastic curtains to reveal multiple rows of verdant cannabis plants before turning and walking down tunnels that connect a web of rooms, all packed with the plants.

The factory was uncovered after a squad of eight officers from Rotherham Central Neighbouring Policing Team (NPT) stormed the warehouse under a warrant on Thames Street in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on Friday January 30.

Some 761 plants were seized at the property, with a street value of around £1,000 per plant, making the cannabis factory worth approximately £761,000 - and marking it one of South Yorkshire's biggest cannabis raids.

The plants were found growing across several floors of the disused commercial warehouse which were connected by holes in the walls, where bricks had been removed to allow people to walk easily between the rooms.

No one was found at the property during the raid and no arrests have been made, while enquiries are ongoing.

The police bust was carried out as part of Operation Grow, which aims to stamp down on the illegal production and supply of cannabis in Rotherham, and has resulted in 'tens of millions of pounds worth of cannabis' being seized.

Cannabis worth more than £17million was seized under Operation Grow in 2024, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Insistent unexplained power cuts in the area, combined with reportings of unusual smells by residents, alerted both the police and National Powergrid of the illegal activity, leading to the launch of the operation in 2021.

Rotherham Central NPT Inspector John Crapper said it was 'crucial' cannabis growing factories are found due to their 'close ties to organised crime'.

He added: 'Not only do they fund illegal activities but cannabis grows can significantly impact the quality of life for residents and nearby businesses.

'Electricity is often bypassed within these enterprises - posing a serious risk for neighbouring properties.'

Inspector Crapper 'urged' the public to report any concerns to the police.

This comes as more than 300 Met Police officers stormed 15 properties across Mitcham, South London, and arrested 23 suspects believed to be associated with notorious drug kingpins.

Class A drugs, significant amounts of cash, firearms and a samurai sword were seized, while the suspects were charged for a range of offences - including the supply of drugs, possession of firearms, possession of offensive weapons, possession of criminal property and modern-day slavery.

The Met reported 3,750 guns and weapons were seized in 2025 as organised crime groups were disprupted more than 21,000 times during the same year.

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, growing weed is punishable by a maximum term of 14 years' imprisonment.

Investigations are ongoing.
