A Wisconsin mother said 'Instead of Christmas shopping, it's casket shopping' after losing her two young sons and daughter in a Thanksgiving fire.

Jourdan Feasby made the distressing remark after sons Rylee, 10 and Connor, 9, as well as seven-year-old Alena died in Thursday's blaze at their father's apartment in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They were her only three children.

Feasby had spent the morning with her youngsters, then dropped them off at their father's so they could spend the night with him.

Flames erupted from the home around 10:30pm the same night. Kenosha Fire Department says it could take weeks to determine what caused the blaze.

Rylee and Connor perished in the inferno. Alena was airlifted to hospital where she lost her life.

The children's father, who has not been named and with whom Feasby shared custody, was treated for smoke inhalation in hospital and later discharged.

Speaking to CBS 58, she added: 'It just doesn't seem real yet to me. And I can't believe that this is my reality right now. It's my worst nightmare.

'They brought all of this light that now I don't have.'

Recalling the dreadful moment she was told the awful news by her sister, Feasby told WISN: 'I couldn't process what I was hearing on the phone.

'They were just my whole world, and they were literally the brightest things that I have ever had in my life.

'They were just the three little amigos.'

Asked about her ex, Feasby said: 'You can sit here and say all you want to that I would've done this, this, and this, but when you're in the situation, it's completely different.

'But I will tell you that if I was in that situation, without a doubt, my kids would've been out or I would've been dead with them.'

Rylee, Conor and Alena were close and loved to sing, play outdoors and make videos together.

Feasby says those videos of her late children are bringing a sliver of comfort as she grieves.

'It does bring you peace that they are all together, that way none of them are alone, but it’s also hard in a selfish sense for myself because I didn’t want to get left behind,' she said.

But the weight of the triple tragedy has left her bereft.

'I feel so alone, to go from having my whole world to nothing,' the stricken mother said.
'Hug your babies and enjoy them this Christmas because you could’ve been in my position and you never know when it’s the last day.'

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for the children's funerals.
