Paul Mescal was joined by his excitable father watching the All-Ireland hurling final on Saturday.

The Gladiators actor, 29, who is from Maynooth, was going back to his Irish roots at the sporting event where he was sat with dad Paul Snr.

The All-Ireland hurling final saw Cork take on Tipperary, with Paul expressing how much the sport means for the Irish as he spoke with the BBC from the crowds.

He also joked that he was feeling very lucky to have been given free tickets for the game yet again this year.

Singer Tom Grennan, 30, was also at the event with his father as they sat behind Paul and his dad.

Paul said from the stands: 'The all Ireland final day is one of the most special days in the calendar and to be here with dad - we're so lucky to get more free tickets to another final!'

His father then added: 'Its phenomenal to be here, this is the pinnacle of Irish sport and you have to be here to fully get the atmosphere.'

Hurling is a fast-paced, Gaelic outdoor team sport played with a stick and ball.

Paul's outing comes after he recently finally went Instagram official with his singer girlfriend Gracie Abrams - after they attended Glastonbury Festival together.

The pair reportedly celebrated their first anniversary of dating in June.

Since last month, the Pacific Palisades native has been photographed numerous times wearing a curious band on her left-ring finger.

'The speculation has been kind of mad for the last x amount of years,' Paul lamented to GQ last October.
'I'm not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life. How I am in my private life is so precious to me because I get very little of it, and it might be public interest, but it's not public-obligated information.'

Gracie wasn't just a Glastonbury patron as she made her official debut June 27 on the Other Stage during the annual music festival, which takes place at Worthy Farm in Pilton.

As Abrams performed her new single Out of Nowhere, her famous filmmaking father J.J. Abrams proudly watched from the wings, and she was also supported there by her brothers Auggie and Henry as well as Mescal's younger sister Nell.

The pair reportedly celebrated their first anniversary of dating in June.

At the start of July the Secret of Us songstress performed her new single Crazy Girl at BST Hyde Park in London and after singing she sported the same exact Boston Red Sox cap that the Oscar-nominated actor had worn at Glastonbury.

Gracie previously dated Grammy-winning hitmaker Blake Slatkin from 2017-2022, while Paul ended his two-year relationship with three-time Grammy winner Phoebe Bridgers in 2022.

The star - who signed with Interscope Records in 2019 at age 20 - got a big career boost in 2022 opening for Olivia Rodrigo's Sour Tour followed by Taylor Swift's Eras Tour between 2023-2024.

Mescal will next executive produce and portray Lionel in Oliver Hermanus' post-WWI gay romance The History of Sound - hitting US theaters September 12 - alongside Josh O'Connor and Chris Cooper.
