Three people have been arrested after several schools were locked down amid a manhunt for a gunman following a shooting in Bristol.
Avon and Somerset Police have launched a probe after a shooting at a car on Speedwell Road, Bristol, at around 1.47pm yesterday.
A victim had been hospitalised with a potentially life-changing injury after the firearm was discharged on Wednesday afternoon.
Three nearby schools were placed into lockdown, with pupils not allowed to leave the sites as a precaution.
A man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder around 2.30am this morning.
A man and a woman, who are in their 20s, were taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A force spokesperson said: 'A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.
'Officers have been working since the incident occurred to identify and locate the individual responsible, and three people are now in police custody.'

A cordon remains in St Anne's Woods, near Brislington with the police force forewarning the public to expect a 'heightened police presence' here and in the Speedwell area of the city.
'We understand that this may have been a very concerning incident, but we have deployed a significant number of resources as part of our response, including the National Police Air Service helicopter, specially-trained firearms officers and drone units,' it added.
Yesterday an air ambulance was seen landing at Barton Fields Park at around 2.30pm, while a police helicopter circled the city for an hour and a half.
Bristol Brunel Academy, Two Mile Hill Primary School and Chester Park Infant School were all placed into lockdown as a precaution in response to the incident.
In an email to parents, Two Mile Hill Primary School said: 'Due to a serious incident in the local area, Two Mile Hill Primary has been placed into lockdown as a precaution. During this time, no one will be able to enter or leave the school site.
'We understand that this is very close to the end of the school day and may cause inconvenience; however, the safety and security of our pupils and wider community is our highest priority.
'We will provide further updates as soon as we are able.'
A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder while another man and a woman also in their 20s have been taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The force have told the public to expect a 'heightened' police presence in St Anne's Wood near Brislington and in the Speedwell area of the city.
Bristol Brunel Academy said it was being led by police and told parents: 'We are still in a precautionary lockdown following police advice.
'Please do not worry, this is a precaution only and we are waiting to hear further instructions. All staff and students are safe.
'We have been advised by police to remain in lockdown due to the incident in the local community. Staff and students remain in the Academy and we will await further updates from police.'
Enquiries remain ongoing; however, police confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
