The estranged wife of disgraced celebrity dentist Steven Lin has broken her silence on her husband's brutal betrayal, three weeks after he was shot dead by police while on a meth binge.
Lin, 41, was gunned down during a tense standoff with cops in Sydney's eastern suburbs after he attacked two female strangers while armed with a knife.
It was the final act of a life which had gone from the peak of success to the depths of despair.
In an open letter on social media, widow Cassandra Lin has admitted: 'We had it all - our little family felt whole and unbreakable...[then] my world came crashing down.
'I discovered the life you had been living behind my back. The affairs. The secrets. The abuse. The child you fathered that I knew nothing about.'
By the time he died, Lin had a disturbing history of stalking, assault, choking and repeatedly breaching apprehended violence orders.
Friends claim his drug-fuelled behaviour spiralled following the breakdown of his marriage, amid his affairs, deception and increasingly erratic conduct.
In the letter posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Ms Lin admitted she has never recovered from discovering his web of lies.
Cassandra Lin, estranged wife of disgraced celebrity dentist Steven Lin, has broken her silence to pen an emotional letter to her husband three weeks after he was shot dead by police
'It shattered the trust I had placed in you and the future I thought we were building together. The pain of that betrayal is something I'm still learning how to carry.
'And yet, standing here today, I'm reminded that people are never just the worst thing they've done, nor only the best.
'You were complicated. You were flawed. You made choices that hurt me deeply and changed our lives forever.
'I know you've heard it all before, so I don't say it any more. I had to stand back and let you fight your secret war. A war which you lost in the end.'
Dr Lin became a star after authoring his global bestseller The Dental Diet on the importance of dental health and good nutrition for brain function and overall wellness.
He'd given TED Talks, owned two successful practices on the NSW Central Coast, and often flew to the US to appear on TV talk shows about his specialist field.
But then the pressure of his fame caused him to spiral into an ultimately fatal meth habit, which cost him everything.
During his addiction, he threatened to kill his ex-wife and mother of his five children, as well as the woman with whom he had had an affair and fathered a sixth child.

'I will slit your throat and rip your head off and hang your body in the garage,' Lin had told Ms Lin in September 2024 during an earlier ice bender.
By then, the Lins had already separated, and she was continuing their practice with a new dentist.
In addition to trying to keep the business running, she was also caring for their young children in the family's $5million home on the Central Coast.
In the wake of his death, Ms Lin has now vowed to try to honour his memory for their children.
The post began: 'A Letter to My Husband - dear Steven.
'I never imagined I would be writing you a letter like this. I always thought if we grew old together, the words I'd say to you would be over a kitchen table, or whispered across a pillow, not spoken out loud to a room full of people who loved you.
'When I met you, something in me settled. For the first time in my life, I felt like I had found peace... like l had finally found home.
'You weren't just the man I loved - I thought you were my soulmate, the person I believed I would walk beside for the rest of my life.
Together we built a life. We built a legacy. We had it all. And the greatest part of that life was becoming parents.
Watching you become a father is something I will always treasure. Our children were the apple of your eye. You loved them fiercely; proudly; completely.
The way you looked at them—with wonder; with joy—is something I will carry with me forever. In those moments, our little family felt whole and unbreakable.
But life is rarely as simple as the dreams we build.
She laid out the harrowing details of his betrayal, before adding: 'But you were also the man I once loved with my whole heart.
'The man who gave me our children. The man who, for a time, made me feel safe and at home in this world. And those truths exist side by side.
'So today, instead of trying to untangle all of that, I want to say this to you: I promise that I will take care of our children with everything I have.
'I will guide them, protect them, and love them in the way we always dreamed they would be loved.
In the wake of his death, Ms Lin has now vowed to try to honour his memory for their children in the open letter to him
'I will tell them stories about you - about the parts of you that made them laugh, the parts that made you their dad, the parts of you that live on in them.
'Because whatever happened between us, they deserve to know where they came from. They deserve to know that their father loved them.
'Your story doesn't end here, because it lives on in them.
'And while our path together didn't end the way either of us imagined, I will carry forward the responsibility we began together - raising the beautiful children we brought into this world.'
She simply ended the letter: 'Goodbye Steven, until we meet again.'
