Report: Inside the plot to make MTG a full-time panelist on The View

After being banished from MAGAland, Marjorie Taylor Greene is being lined up for an unlikely next act - as a permanent panelist on The View. The Daily Mail understands the former Republican congresswoman, 51, is being eyed behind the scenes as a potential full-time addition to the liberal ABC talk show. Producers have been licking their lips after Greene's guest appearance this week triggered a rare ratings bump and a surge of social media engagement for the long-running daytime staple. 'When Marjorie shows up on T he View , people notice,' a source told The Mail.

Sources Cite Ratings Boost and Engagement

'Ratings spike, social media engagement picks up dramatically, everyone has an opinion. She creates buzz.'
'Obviously, it would be stupid for us to not consider something more permanent. I don't know what that would look like, but it's sort of a no-brainer.'

Insiders say Greene's appeal is the reaction she generates. 'Love her or hate her, you know who she is, and you know she's not going to hold back,' the source added. Greene quit Congress at the end of November after nearly five years on Capitol Hill, following an extraordinary falling out with former ally Donald Trump.

Trump-Greene Rift Comes After Epstein Files Criticism

The split was triggered by Greene's outspoken criticism of Trump over his botched release of the Epstein files, a core MAGA pledge that she accused him of abandoning, prompting Trump to brand her a 'traitor.' Previously, MTG had been one of Trump's most reliable allies, defending him in the wake of the January 6 attack on the Capitol and wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat at Joe Biden's State of the Union address in 2024. While no one on Greene's team would comment, a former senior staffer said she 'totally would' join The View panel if asked. 'She would love that. She likes to talk and likes an audience.' And Greene herself has gone on record that she enjoys talking to the other ladies on the show.

In a December interview with the New York Times, Greene said she has a lot more similarities than differences with the panel. 'Those women were the same type of women that have always been my friends,' she said. 'College-educated, affluent suburban women - that's who am. So I couldn't wait to talk to these ladies. I was so tired of the toxic politics.' Word has been spreading in the break room about what would happen if she were formally added to the show. 'There's gossip that she might be added, a lot of us are talking about it,' a second staffer told the Mail. 'I haven't heard anything official. I'll probably find out like everyone else when I read it in the news. They're not great with communication here.'

'But if I had to bet on her joining? 50/50. Maybe even more.'

Despite her firebrand reputation, the staffer said MTG is the opposite backstage. 'She is actually very lovely behind the scenes,' the staffer said. 'Nice to the staff; friendly; not demanding; not problematic in any way.' 'She is clearly angling for some sort of role here. It's so obvious to me and to everyone else. And as loath as I am to say it, she's good. She's good on camera; she can hold her own; she articulates herself well. That doesn't mean I'm a fan of hers; I'm not; but she would make a lot of sense as a panelist; even a semi-regular one.' Reps for the View did not return the Daily Mail's call for comment. Greene appeared for the second time on the long-running ABC talker on Wednesday, joining Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farrah Griffin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin live on the program - and didn't hold back in criticizing Trump.

'The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the president calling me a traitor for standing with women who were raped when they were teenagers,' Greene said during the Hot Topics discussion, referring to dozens of women who say they were exploited by Jeffrey Epstein's alleged sexual trafficking ring. 'One of MAGA's big campaign pledges was to release the Epstein files.' She then criticized the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, calling it a mistake and a distraction. She then accused the administration of mistreating women. 'Not only does Trump not have a good reputation with women,' Greene said, 'but I would argue the Republican party has a woman problem as well.' 'We Republican women who have served in the House,' she added, 'we have been vocal about that. There's quite a few others.'

Trump has been critical of MTG's appearances. 'She has gone far left, even doing The View,' he wrote on Truth Social after her first appearance on November 14. When panelist Sunny Hostin pointedly asked Greene if she was breaking ranks with Trump for her own political gain, she laughed. 'I've said over and over again to the point of exhaustion,' she responded. 'I'm not running for Senate, I'm not running for governor, I'm not running for president.' She declined to answer whether she would leave the Republican party. A second staffer at The View says that Greene - who is normally known for being acerbic and aggressive - is a dream guest backstage. 'She is actually very lovely behind the scenes,' the staffer insists. 'Nice to the staff; friendly; not demanding; not problematic in any way.'
