A family featured on Rich House Poor House broke a major show rule - as they fumed 'this is not a home' after moving into a £1.7million 11-bedroom property.

The Channel 5 series - which debuted in 2017 - sees two families from polar opposite financial backgrounds swap homes and budgets for a week.

In Sunday's (April 19) episode, the Bloor family exchanged their life with millionaire hotel owners Gez and Rosy Chetal.

John, Ann and their three children live in a three-bedroom rented terrace house in Norfolk.

Following their basic household bills, the family have just £79 per week for expenditure such as food, fun and travel.

It was revealed on the show how John works long hours as a bus driver and Ann works as a cook in a mental health care home in order to make ends meet.

The couple, who share a passion for cooking and dream of running a music café, struggle to make ends meet - having previously gone bankrupt for £36,000.

Furthermore, wealthy Gez and Rosy live in their sprawling £1.7m 11-bedroom bespoke hotel with their 19-year-old daughter Saanchi.

They hoped the swap would allow them to spend more time together and offer a breal from the business.

In addition, their luxurious hotel includes a wine cellar, a large dining room and private chef.

So while Gez and Rosy took on a £79 weekly budget, John, Ann and their family had £1,800 to spend.

Although not long into arriving in their new environment, the Bloor family struggled to adapt to the hotel.

Ann confessed: 'My kids are not comfortable.'

This led to her telling John after a restless night: 'The children are really uncomfortable.

'They can't be in their pyjamas because it's a hotel, they can't just go and get a drink, they can't just go and get a sandwich.'

John chimed in: 'It's not a home, is it?'

John and Ann ultimately decided to leave the hotel and use the remaining budget to book a luxury Airbnb, costing £1,200

Ann continued: 'It's nothing about the hotel. If it was just me and you.. I'd absolutely love it but actually to me we can't really stay in the hotel.'

The pair ultimately decided to leave the hotel and use the remaining budget to book a luxury Airbnb, costing £1,200.

When the two families came together after the swap, Ann said: 'We loved thehotel; unfortunately the children didn't. They felt very separated from us.'

Gez said: 'It's just a big house really, with 11 rooms.'

In a previous episode, a single mother broke down in tears after receiving a life-changing gift from a millionaire couple.

Lyndsay lives in a two-bedroom grand floor housing association flat in Sussex with her 21-year-old daughter, Katie.

Having formerly owned a small child minding business, Lyndsay had to give up her job following a hysterectomy.

She later developed arthritis and fibromyalgia, the latter being a chronic condition without a known cure - and causes widespread pain and tiredness.

Lyndsay currently lives off weekend work as a receptionist, as well as benefits, meaning they have just £91 weekly disposable income.

In addition, the pair faced further health struggles as Katie developed a rare pancreatic disease seven years ago.

On Rich House, Poor House, the mother and daughter exchanged homes with Rachel and Steve, a multi-millionaire couple who run a recycled gift packaging business.

Rachel and Steve met 12 years ago and live in a luxurious £2million pound Sussex home with an outdoor pool, 1.2 acres of garden and three living rooms.

For the swap, they had to survive on £91 for the week while Lyndsay and Katie had thousands of pounds to spend.

Upon learning about Lyndsay and Katie's circumstances, Rachel and Steve were keen to offer support.

Following the swap, both pairs met up as the wealthy couple revealed what they had in mind.

Rachel told Lyndsay: 'What we learned is that you wanted to set up another business.
'So, I went to see a playgroup and I was talking to lots of mums there about what's needed in Worthing.
'An idea was floated, but said, 'What about some kind of childcare agency?'
She added: 'You wouldn't actually be looking after the children yourselves, but an agency that offers the people that you can then manage. You can literally do it online and fit the hours around you.'

In a poignant moment, Rachel continued: 'We would be happy to invest £10,000 in helping you set up the business.'

Moved to tears, Lyndsay said: 'I don't really know what to say. I'm going to start crying. Thank you.'

Speaking of Rachel asked Katie: 'Now you've got your health issues hopefully behind you. What next? What are the big dreams?'

Katie said: 'I definitely want to become a pilot in the future.'

Rachel responded: 'Everybody said Katie, that has been your goal. So what we'd like to do to help you on that road is buy you five lessons.'

Katie replied: 'It's always been my dream, hasn’t it since I was three to be a pilot.'

Lyndsay said: 'Just kind of was this constant circle, wasn’t it?

'And like me trying to support Katie and she’s supporting me. I’m really grateful. And I will not let you down.

‘I’m gonna put everything into this and the opportunities that you’re gonna give Katie.’

Rachel added: ‘We just want to see you get your lives back and be able to move forward. Let’s do it.’
