“Sarah Jessica is the one that is really taking in the exhibition,” Cohen shared.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen are Met Gala staples.
The duo, who have attended the star-studded event together six times, reflected on the tradition while speaking with PEOPLE at a VIP party for the opening of a new Primark store in New York City.
While they weren't able to grace the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps on the first Monday in May this year, Parker and Cohen treasure their time at previous galas.
Parker, 61, tells PEOPLE that she loves attending with Cohen because he's an extrovert.
"He's better at large groups," the actress says. "He's very comfortable."
Cohen, 57, jokingly interjects: "I drag her around."
The Watch What Happens Live host shared that in return, Parker helps him slow down and enjoy the exhibit. “We go through the exhibit, she tells me everything,”
he says. “...Of the several hundred guests, Sarah Jessica is the one that is really taking in the exhibition.”
Cohen's comments hilariously come after many people on the internet said much the same about Parker's love for the actual art in the museum.
Cohen also commended Parker for her commitment to the event's yearly dress code.
"She takes such care in dressing for the theme, and a lot of thought goes into what she brings to it, which I always appreciate," he says.
"That's what makes it special, though," the Sex and the City star adds, sharing that she usually spends month deciding what she will wear for the annual event.
The duo most recently attended the Met Gala together in 2024.
While on the red carpet, Cohen told PEOPLE that Parker makes for "the best date in the place."
"I lucked out," he added with a smile. "I hit the jackpot."
On Instagram, Cohen, who wore a Berluti tux, wrote, "One of the perks of my life is escorting Cinderella to the ball."
The evening marked Parker's 12th Met Gala appearance. She previously appeared alongside Cohen in 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2011.
While on The Howard Stern Show back in 2023, Parker said,“I love Andy,”
and discussed their longtime “real” friendship.
“We’ve come a long way. In the beginning, we kept bumping into one another and we had mutual friends, but it wasn’t a friendship that was easy,” she said, explaining that their bond evolved after they went to theater together and spent more time. “...It just changes.”
