Sophie Winkleman has spoken out about the 'indignity' of homelessness as she called for urgent action to support those living on the streets.
The actress, 45, who is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, headed out alongside her nine-year-old daughter Isabella to sell The Big Issue at Somerset House in London.
Reflecting on why the cause means so much to her, Sophie praised The Big Issue for offering both employment and a sense of community to those who are experiencing homelessness.
Speaking to HELLO, she said: 'How the hell is it OK to walk past someone sleeping in the street? 'No one should have to endure that pain and indignity - and The Big Issue is a family and a community for people who've fallen on seriously hard times.'
The Peep Show star has been an ambassador for The Big Issue since 2020, after reaching out to co-founder Lord John Bird to commend an article he had written.
With homelessness continuing to rise, Sophie emphasised the importance of the festive period in supporting vendors.
'It's important to buy The Big Issue at Christmas, because your local vendor is someone who has hauled themselves up from a low place and should be honoured and treasured,' she said.
She added that anyone who can afford a coffee on their way to work can also afford to buy a copy of the magazine.
It comes after Sophie said life as a working royal is 'total hell' and a 'form of torture'.
The actress is married to King Charles's second cousin Lord Frederick and is close with senior members of the Firm, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.
In a recent interview, the Peep Show star said she 'felt for' her family because 'life is brutal'.
'The more I get to know the Royal Family, the more I get that their lives are total hell and that level of unasked-for fame is a form of torture,' she told the Times.
Sophie, who is starring in a TV show Wild Cherry, added that members of the Royal Family have had a 'blinding spotlight' thrust onto them from the moment they are born.

Just before the couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary last year, Sophie told Tatler she 'didn't know anyone' at her own wedding.
'I had my best pals there but basically it was full of faces I’d never seen before. ‘My mother-in-law, Princess Michael of Kent, took full personal charge of it all and did it brilliantly, including what dress I was wearing,’ she recalled.
However, Sophie said she was 'so determined not to be a bridezilla' that she didn't even make a fuss about her hairstyle on the big day - which turned out to be a 'disgusting' mistake.
She told the magazine: 'Coming up the aisle, the first thing I said when I saw Freddie was, "I’m so sorry about the hair." He said, "Yes, what on earth have you done?"'
Their wedding party was hosted by Lord Frederick's godmother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, at her palatial grade-II listed home, Ormeley Lodge near Richmond Park.
The couple share two children, daughters Maud, 12, and Isabella, nine.
