DES MOINES -- The Marshalltown girls' swimming and diving squad won 11 of 12 events en route to a 126-57 rout of Des Moines Lincoln in Tuesday's Iowa Alliance Conference dual meet.

The Bobcats (8-1, 5-1) won all but the final race and even swept a pair of events along the way. Marshalltown claimed the top three spots in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle.

Leia Hernandez earned one of her three event victories by hitting the wall first in the 50 free, clocking in at 25.61 seconds. Drea Ceren (27.79) and Libby Meyer (28.21) joined in the top-three sweep.

In the 100 free, Ceren captured the top spot in 1:01.58, followed by Adele Beek (1:01.89) and Meyer (1:03.29).

Hernandez was part of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. She was joined by Ceren, Rachel Case and Emma Case in the 200 medley relay (2:05.73) to open the dual, while it was Addi Elmore, Beek and Rachel Case setting the stage for Hernandez to anchor the 200 free relay to victory in 1:47.19.

Emma Case also won the 100 butterfly (1:07.24) and the 100 backstroke (1:11.23), while Rachel Case took the 100 breaststroke (1:22.19). Elmore won the 200 freestyle (2:12.41), Maisie Gummert claimed the 200 individual medley (2:38.47) and the 500 freestyle (5:56.10), and Harlie Thatcher claimed the diving competition (202.20).

COLO -- The Class 1A No. 7 BCLUW volleyball team dismantled Colo-NESCO in Tuesday's Iowa Star Conference South Division clash, winning 25-6, 25-8, 25-6.

The Comets (23-6, 4-1) were led by Kylie Pekarek with 10 kills, Grace Farnsworth with eight and Olivia Peters with six. Sally Ramirez finished with 18 assists and Cambria Wayman added 10 more as BCLUW finished with a .433 hitting percentage for the night.

Farnsworth was credited with five blocks at the net, while Brinna Benson led the back row with 10 digs. The Comts chalked up 23 assists on 70-of-76 serving, led by Ramirez going 33-for-33 with 11 aces. Wayman was 13-for-15 with seven aces, and Pekarek had three aces on 5-of-6 serving against Colo-NESCO (1-17, 1-5).

DIKE -- The West Marshall girls' cross country team won the Dike-New Hartford Invitational on Tuesday night at Fox Ridge Golf Course.

The Trojans were paced by senior Allie Thompson with a sixth-place finish and her time of 19 minutes, 18.7 seconds. Dalaney Eldridge, a sophomore, scored 12th place in 20:20.3.

West Marshall's freshman trio of Kielly Kasal, Ella Randall and Zoey Wignall helped deliver the team title for the Trojans, who scored 90 points for the win. Kasal came in 22d in 21:08.4; Randall was 24th in 21:21.7; and Wignall was 39th in 21:48.1.

Sumner-Fredericksburg came in second to the Trojans with 115 points, and host Dike-New Hartford (136) was third in the 16-team invitational. Grundy Center came in fifth (148), while North Tama was 12th (274).

Grundy Center was paced by Grace Storjohann in third place (19:10.2). Evelyn Geerdes (21st, 21:07.7), Maddy Hendershot (25th, 21:22.6) and Karlee Lynch (29th, 21:29.7) bridged the gap to Makenna Steinmeyer, who was 86th (23:25.5).

North Tama was led by Rachael Murty, who took 23rd place in 21:09.7. Shawna Cibula was 31st for the Redhawks in 21:32.1. BCLUW didn't score as a team with just four runners, but Chloe Switzer was in the mix for the Comets. She finished 37th in 21:46.7.

On the boys' side, Grundy Center defending state champion Emerson Vokes claimed the gold medal in 15:07.4 in leading the Spartans to a ninth-place finish out of 22 scoring teams with 215 points. Jayce Fryslie placed 17th for the Spartans in 17:25.5, while Leo Block was 22nd in 17:41.4.

West Marshall came in 12th with 322 points, led by Erick Rosas-Canchola in36th (18:23.1). Aaron Greene was57th in19:01.6, and Jacob Eirikson placed64th in19:13.9.

BCLUW was paced by Olin Hupfeld in50th place with a time of18:42.4, and Garrett Brunner was just back in54th (19:49.2). Manny Hinderhofer came in61st (19:08.5). Gladbrook-Reinbeck was led by Caleb Bowser in67th place (19:18.2).

Grinnell won the team title with50 points, finishing ahead of Denver (98) and Benton Community (141).

JEFFERSON -- The West Marshall volleyball team suffered its seventh-straight loss, falling 3-0 to Greene County in Monday's Heart of Iowa Conference clash.

The Trojans (4-22, 2-5) were dropped by scores of 25-13, 25-10, 25-11.

Ellie Andrews and Arya Wertz led West Marshall with three kills apiece. Olivia Henderson chipped in with two kills and Elyse Ranson had one. Setter Makaylie Tarbell tallied six assists, but the Trojans finished the night with a negative hitting percentage.

Riley Randall led the defense with 14 digs, while Andrews and Wertz each had a block. West Marshall served 27-for-28 as a team with no aces.
