Kate DeAraugo has opened up about using Ozempic for weight loss following her impressive 12kg slim down. The singer, who won Australian Idol in 2005, has been documenting her journey on TikTok and says her experience was 'nothing but fantastic'.

'The best part about being on Ozempic, for me, wasn't necessarily the obvious one of weight loss. Of course, that was great. I did manage to lose about 12kg in the space of roughly four months, but that wasn't the best part for me,' she said.
'Hands down, the best part of being on Ozempic for me was the freedom from food noise.'

Kate explained how she struggled with constant thoughts about food and how Ozempic helped alleviate this mental burden.

'I have struggled and battled and wrestled and suffered with food noise my whole life. It's constant...and the medication just took it away.'

Currently pregnant with her second child, Kate noted that no other diet or operation had alleviated this "food noise" as effectively as Ozempic did.

'Yes, of course, they physically stopped me from being able to overeat...and Ozempic did that,' she said.
'I was still able to eat normally...Food just became food.'

Despite positive experiences with the drug, Kate mentioned experiencing significant fatigue while taking it.

'The worst part about being on Ozempic...was probably the fatigue,' she said in a clip.

She speculated that poor nutritional habits might have contributed to this fatigue rather than the medication itself.

'To be honest...I probably didn't use the time that I was on the medication as wisely as I should have.'

After stopping her Ozempic medication to try for another baby, Kate experienced a return of "food noise".

'Sadly when I came off all the food noise insanity binge eating and all shitty behaviours came straight back...'

Kate previously revealed battling a binge eating disorder in high school after struggling to feel comfortable in her own skin. On her podcast Why Do I Feel This Way?, she confessed hiding and lying about her eating habits from an early age.

'Binge eating for me started really young...my first way of regulating those emotions.'

Kate also shared how fame exacerbated personal struggles including addiction during her time performing with The Young Divas.  Last year she told 9Honey finding fame helped fund methamphetamine addiction which tore apart both hers' & loved ones lives; hitting rock bottom post pleading guilty possession ice/drug driving/weapons offences avoided conviction placed community corrections order since rehabilitating transforming life if someone you know needs support relating disorders please call Butterfly Foundation emergency call 000
