CLEVELAND -- Christian Bryant, the 22-year-old man accused of killing Randy Corrigan at Costco in Strongsville, is set to appear in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court for an initial appearance at 8:30 a.m.

3News plans to stream the hearing live in the media player at the top of the story as well as on our YouTube channel.

Previously, Bryant's bond was set at $5 million in Berea Municipal Court on Monday morning.

During that brief hearing on Monday, Bryant waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

A detective with the Strongsville Police Department also told the judge that Bryant is a truck driver who was traveling through Ohio.

Before the judge announced bond, Bryant asked if he could address the court. The judge advised him to speak with his attorney first. As the hearing came to an end a few minutes later, however, Bryant spoke up again.

"This man approached me with a knife," he declared as the defense attorney interrupted him and advised this can be addressed in the future. Bryant was then seen throwing paperwork down and walking away as the hearing officially came to a close.

A probable cause affidavit obtained by 3News revealed details about what led up to the Strongsville shooting. It states that Bryant, who had a drum magazine in one of his pockets, was confronted by a Costco employee who "attempted to prevent him from entering the store with a firearm." A drum magazine is a high-capacity firearm ammunition feeding device.

During the confrontation, witnesses reported that Bryant pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun. Police say Corrigan pulled out a pocket knife.

Witnesses told police Bryant fired at Corrigan, who fell to the ground. After a "split-second pause," Bryant allegedly "fired many more, one after another, with no pause."

"Gunshots fired. One of my employees got hit," said a 911 caller to dispatch. "Randy told the guy to drop the gun and the guy shot him."
Another 911 caller added, "This guy just gunned someone down. Several shots. The person is laying on the ground. ... There was one shooter who shot him point blank."

Police say Corrigan was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center at 6:45 p.m.

According to the affidavit, investigators found 13 fired .40 caliber shell casings at the scene. Officers also recovered a .40 Springfield XD-40 with a drum magazine containing 37 rounds, along with one round in the chamber.

Police say that while being taken into custody, Bryant "repeatedly uttered 'a white man approached me with a knife for no reason' and 'I defended myself.'"

At 5:43 p.m. on Saturday, the Strongsville Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Costco, which is located at 16690 Royalton Road. When officials arrived, they found a 61-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say that upon arriving, officers immediately began first aid. The victim, later identified as Corrigan, was transported to MetroHealth, where he was pronounced dead.

Strongsville police previously reported that this was an incident between the two individuals.

On Saturday evening, 3News reporter Hunter Bertram saw multiple shell casings and bullet holes outside of the Costco. On Sunday afternoon, the Strongsville Police Department said it is continuing to investigate the shooting and asked any witnesses who have not yet spoken with officers to come forward.

"If you were present during the incident and did not speak with an officer, please email your contact information to detective.bureau@strongsville.org,"
the department said in a social media post. "A detective will follow up with you."
