Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley has shared some major health updates after undergoing a hysterectomy in recent weeks.

The ITV personality, 44, touched base with her fans over the weekend and told them about her journey - which she says has been a 'rollercoaster'.

Tanya had the surgery on September 13 after 'suffering years of pain' and has since been at home recovering.

In a previous Instagram post, Tanya shared how she had been 'suffering for years and got no answers from doctors', until she was later diagnosed with adenomyosis and fibroids by Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Amiry.

Adenomyosis is a painful condition where tissue grows into the muscular wall of the uterus, often causing intense pain and heavy bleeding that disrupts daily life.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and Tanya updated her followers with her progress - explaining how she was 'feeling fantastic' but it didn't last.

The ITV personality, 44, touched base with her fans over the weekend and told them about her journey - which she says has been a 'rollercoaster' after contracting a low level infection.

Tanya says she was hit with 'a bug or low level infection' but she's thankful as it made her rest.

In an emotional post, she said: 'Thought I better give a update on my hysterectomy journey as my last post I was feeling fantastic and yeah well it didn't last.
'I don't know if I got a bug or some type of low level infection but whatever it was I think god sent me it so I would rest, trying to get someone with ADHD to rest is like trying to get a toddler to sit down all day.'
She continued: 'I would describe the healing of a hysterectomy as a rollercoaster but I'm feeling good ish today the sickness feeling is over thank the Lord.'

Tanya revealed she has been hard on herself, and due to having ADHD, can find it difficult to rest even when needed.

But after speaking to her doctor, she got the reassurance she needed and wanted to pass on the positivity to her fans who might be going through the same thing.

Tanya concluded: 'I spoke to the doctor on like day six, writing: 'whyyy am I so poorly she said TANYA you have had major surgery please be kind and patient with yourself so I'm passing that on to you guys for everything in life.'
'I've been asked a lot of what I suggest to but before the op so here's my list. Follow the amazing @dramirygynae and @jennypowelltv and if you want more stuff on hysterectomy's I know in the lead up to mine I wanted to see and read everything.'

In her list for pre-op suggestions, she shared, 'a long charger that reaches your bed, ear plugs for in [the] hospital, slippers to walk to hospital, and peppermint tea for the wind.'

Tanya received plenty of support in the comments, with many people wishing her a speedy recovery.

Back in June during a Loose Women segment, Tanya spoke about her health battle.

During the conversation with panellists Ruth Langsford, Sue Cleaver, Denise Welch and Brenda Edwards, she discussed her struggles with adenomyosis.

'I'd been struggling with ADHD and just sort of got to grips with that and the peri-menopause hit me, and then the periods were getting worse and worse and I just thought surely this can't just be peri-menopause,' Tanya said.

She recalled: 'It was like I was in labour; I was panting in pain.'

The model was eventually diagnosed with the painful condition and recalled how it was 'worse than labour but just constant'.

Adenomyosis impacted lots of aspects of her life including her mood; 'I missed the old me; I was quite easy going,' she reflected.

She previously revealed she once feared her husband Phil would leave her due to the toll her 'horrific' health condition had taken on their relationship.

In a candid interview, Tanya shared that the condition has left her in constant agony and triggered a severe hormonal 'nightmare'.

As a result, it's taken a toll on her 11-year marriage to the former Sunderland footballer, with Tanya admitting there were moments she 'couldn't stand to be around him.'

Praising Phil for sticking by her, she told The Sun: 'That shows what kind of man he is because some days I just don't even want to hang around with myself.'

Describing how her condition affects her, she explained: 'It's like something has taken over your body and you can't control it. I am like an ogre stomping around.'

'The rage just comes up inside of me and takes over. I'm horrible to be around, but obviously my oestrogen is low and the ogre is out.'

Tanya said it like like going from being terrified of losing your partner and family to suddenly feeling so angry you don't care about anything or anyone - and admitted it's a horrible place to be.

In a bid to finally get relief, Tanya underwent the hysterectomy in hopes of fixing the condition once and for all.
