The Bride! is coming to streaming this week after the Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale monster mash was dead on arrival at the box office.

Written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Bride! opened in theaters nationwide on Feb. 6. In the film, Hamnet Oscar winner Buckley plays Frankenstein author Mary Shelly, who channels her original intentions for her Bride character in the novel into a 1930s Chicago call girl named Ida. After the ghost of Shelley possesses Ida (Buckley), Ida is murdered by a mob crew after she threatens to expose them.

Right about the same time, Frankenstein's monster, aka "Frank" (Bale) shows up in Chicago in search of Dr. Euphronius (Annette Benning), whom he hopes will reanimate a corpse to become his mate.

As such, Frank and Euphronius dig up Ida and bring her back to life -- which turns out to be a bad idea when Frank kills two men who try to attack his new companion -- making the monster and potential Bride of Frankenstein fugitives as they try to outrun the law.

The Bride! also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Skarsgaard and Penelope Cruz.

Warner Bros. recently announced that The Bride! will be coming to digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, April 7. The film is available for pre-order for purchase for $24.99. Since rentals are typically $5 less than purchase prices, viewers should be able to rent The Bride! for $19.99 for a 48-hour period.

The Bride! will be available to purchase or rent on PVOD on Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube Movies & TV.

Copies Of 'The Bride!' Purchased On PVOD Include Bonus Features

In its announcement of the debut of The Bride! on PVOD, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment noted that viewers who have purchased digital copies of the film will also have access to four bonus featurettes.

The featurettes -- which highlights the work of writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal, stars Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale and other cast members -- are titled Stitching Together The Bride!, Designing the Look, The Muse and the Reimagined Monster and The Bride! Party.

The bonus featurettes will also be available on the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD copies of The Bride! when the film is released on physical media on May 19.

How Did 'The Bride' Fare At The Box Office?

The Bride! failed to generate ticket sales at the domestic box office and has only earned $12.7 million in North American ticket sales and $10.7 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $23.4 million.

The film had a production budget of $90 million before marketing costs, Variety reported.

Rated R, The Bride! arrives on PVOD on Tuesday.
