The Princess of Wales has told cancer sufferers they are 'not alone' in a deeply personal message to mark World Cancer Day.

In the poignant video message, she reveals how a cancer journey has 'moments of fear and exhaustion' but also 'moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection'.

She said: 'On World Cancer Day, my thoughts are with everyone who is facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment or finding their way through recovery. 'Cancer touches so many lives. Not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them. 'As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it's not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection. 'Today is a reminder of the importance of care, understanding and hope. Please know you are not alone.'

The princess's narration is accompanied by footage of her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital last January, on the day she confirmed she was in remission.

In another clip from the video marking World Cancer Day, Kate can be see talking to a large group in The Royal Marsden hospital.

The princess underwent major abdominal surgery in January 2024 after which doctors found evidence of cancer and she underwent a course of gruelling preventative chemotherapy.

She announced the news personally in a video message that March.

In September the same year she also revealed the news that she had completed treatment but warned that her recovery and return to royal duties would be slow but steady.

In January last year she gave the good news that she was finally in remission but again asked for public understanding about her return to public life.

She said in a message on social media at the time 'it is a relief to now be in remission' from cancer 'and that she was 'looking forward to a fulfilling year'.

A source told the Daily Mail that although the princes published the written message last year, this was the first time she had recorded something and described it as very 'personal'.

Last year's visit to The Royal Marsden hospital, of which Kate is joint Patron alongside her husband, marked her first solo engagement after completing a preventative course of chemotherapy in September 2024.

The mother-of-three was dressed in an all-red ensemble as she met with patients and staff to thank them for their 'exceptional care, support and compassion' throughout the past 12 months of her own cancer battle during the visit last year.

Describing her treatment as 'really tough', Kate told a patient undergoing chemo at the time: 'It's such a shock.'

The princess spoke poignantly about the 'resilience' she learned throughout treatment and thanked one well-wisher who told her: 'I think you've managed the children amazingly well.'

Last December, as a mark of thanks to the Royal Marsden, the princess donated a 'majestic' Christmas tree from her annual carol service to the hospital's Sutton branch.

While Kate has never spoken publicly about the sort of cancer she was diagnosed with, she has addressed her 'life-changing' health battle in a remarkable gesture of solidarity with others battling the illness.
